Last Night:
453 PMPS
375 +7

I put 1/2 can of FF in one bowl and the two cats shared it. Usually they get 1/4 can each, per meal.

I'm not quite as prepared for the long trip, this time as last time, so I need to get some things together, now. Snow is predicted, but 40%, so hopefully, it will wait until we're back home. And hopefully, J.D. will eat on the road.

We leave in about 30 minutes or so, and will be back at about +5, God Willing.

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

J.D. was 296 at +1, just before we left.

It was a harrowing? ride there. It's supposed to be 3 major highways there (maybe 6 or 7, if you count the little ones), but the GPS was taking me through all kinds of residential neighborhoods and industrial areas, and there must have been some miscommuniation  I'm so bad with directions, and driving to unfamiliar places :-| .
We got there just before the appointment time and it took us 1 hour and 20 minutes when it was only supposed to take 55 minutes per the GPS when we started our journey.

J.D. was 150 at +3, while waiting in the waiting room for our appointment.

I had just enough time to grab a cup of coffee, as the vet got us right in. He weighed J.D. and looked in his mouth and said "Not good" and then he paused.. and said "Excellent". I said "Not good?" and he repeated himself "Not good,,, Excellent". He kept saying excellent. He said his mouth and teeth looked excellent. He said my post dental care of him was excellent, said everything was healed up perfectly and that he couldn't even tell a dental had been performed? He said J.D. "could be a Poster Child for after this procedure". He said he was given the antibiotics for the 2 weeks after the dental because of the diabetes and that diabetecs immune systems are compromised. He said I could start to only give him the dental drops once a day instead of twice a day (which I've been doing anyway, for the past week). I asked about teeth brushing, and he said I probably wouldn't have to, that the drops would probably be enough. I had him show me J.D.'s mouth, so I could see how many teeth he had left and he has no side teeth at all on the right side, and he has 1 upper and 1 lower (middle molar?) tooth that match up with each other on the left side, and 3 canines in front, and a few itty bitty incisors. I shook hands with the doctor, and it's just amazing how big (huge) this dental specialist's hands and fingers are for the work he does.

J.D. was 126 at +3.5, when we got in the car to start our journey home. And, it snowed on the way home.

J.D. ate another 1/4 can of FF on the drive home, and then turned around in his carrier, and I guess was giving himself a bath because I could only see his tail at that point, then he actually layed down in his carrier, and relaxed most of the ride home, until the point when I had to turn the speed control off, and he then stood up the rest of the way and faced me.

He was 79 at +5, when we arrived home, and he ate some more FF once he got inside the house.

Dr. James Anthony is an awesome dental specialist and I would recommend him to anyone.

J.D. is now relaxing, and I think my ~O) is ready. Yeah Coffee !!

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

Dyana - what a great vet report - such good news!

And JD has a green - maybe he should go to the vet more often if he responds so well

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

What a great report for your J.D.! That is truly excellent news

Sorry to hear about the wonky GPS... maybe it needs updates? Mine has taken me on some interesting excursions, too; Once I updated the chip, though, it has been more reliable.

I hope you guys have a great caturday!

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

So did the vet clarify what the "not good" was all about?

Great news on the recovery from the dental and even better news on J.D.'s numbers today.

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

I saw the "not good" part and for a split second my heart was in my throat and then I saw ... "Excellent!!"
I had to read it twice to make sure. Way to give me a coronary! Hahaha!!

Very happy to hear this and that J.D. is doing so well after his dental. You are a terrific mommy.
And I laughed at all the 'boss training' you have been doing. Yup, those bosses always need training!

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

Wow, what a fantastic report! You definitely can't ask for any better. Nice that J.D. relaxed some on the way home, and lovely numbers to come home to! Great job!

I think he was just being dramatic: Saying "not good" pausing for a half a second and then saying "excellent". Because the "not good" was what my mind focused on when he first said it, and when he repeated it with less of a pause, it was "not good, excellent", like he was giving a grade or something. All is well.

+6 53
+6.5 59
+7.25 64

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

EXCELLENT!! YAHOO!! And then look at his numbers to celebrate... excellent. You are such a good, thorough bean! I'm sure so much of his great recovery is because you were so very careful with all those meds.
Can we have a party about this??? :thumbup :thumbup drinking24 party_cat party_cat :RAHCAT

Hi Dyana. What a great report for J.D. It's so nice to see him down in the green zone. I hope he's got his surfing suit on.

Have a great weekend.

Re: 02/16 J.D. +5 79 - per vet "Not Good......Excellent!!"

excellent!!

I love hearing some good news!

that is the flaw with the gps's...
they don't have a "avoid neighborhood" command.... or
the shortest distance....

awww happy for you Dyana and J.D. great Job Dr. James !! maybe you will start blending his food in the mixer at some point ! Noni started eating more since then, I think because of the little teeth left poor baby

The vet should have spoken with a voice like Tony the Tiger.
"They're not just good, they're Grrrreat!!

Apparently J.D. either didn't notice, or doesn't care... :-|
Really great post-dental report though..

PMPS 531.

Do any of you, when your cat is high, not want to feed them? I do. But, I fed him anyway. Now, he's probably 581.

Unless I get a second wind, I'm probably going to bed early, because I can barely stay awake now. It's been day.

Another story from today: is last time I went there a month ago, I came to this huge toll booth place where there were lots of EZ Pass lanes and Cash lanes and this very nice lady there read my printed out directions and said I was going the right way, and took my money and kindly informed me that I would need the exact change at the next toll booth and made sure I had that change back from whatever bills I gave her. This time, we never came to that big toll booth with the friendly people working there. We only came to the toll booth with no people working there, with 2 EZ Pass lanes and 2 Exact Change only lanes, and luckily I found 2 quarters in my wallet. On the way back.. I don't remember paying on the way back last time, I thought you only pay one direction, but on the way back we come to another toll booth that had no people working in the booths and had 2 EZ Pass lanes and 2 Exact Change only lanes. I found 1 quarter and 2 nickels and 2 pennies left in my wallet. I sat in that lane desparate and I didn't know what I was supposed to do? and I searched the bottom of my purse and all over my car and after some time, I eventually found 13 more pennies. What a hassle! I almost got out of my car to flag someone down to beg for 15 cents.

I don't have anything else to say about J.D. because he's just being J.D. He ate his dinner, and is sitting on the couch.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Sir JD! Oh I just LOVE your vettybean report! I LIKE 'Excellent'!! Is that sort of like an A+++?

Yep Dyana, get some rest - you deserve it after all that! I don't have to do toll booths down here but while I was working and spending lots of time in NYC, PA, NJ and VA, I ran into them all the time! Wait...I didn't run INTO them... but I always threw a bunch of change in the rental car's ashtray when I first got in. Took me a while to get used to them being all over the place.

BIG HUG! Sleep well!

Great dental report, and really good numbers for such a long drive and vetty visit. Way to go J.D. Hope you both get some sleep, and see those pretty numbers again in the morning.

buster and maui are going on tuesday to see dr. scott and to make sure everything is good and they won't need dentals!

yeah JD - you've got excellent teefies now! yippee

Dyana, this is wonderful news! Good job, J.D.! :-D :-D :-D

You should get an EZ Pass account. It doesn't cost anything to get and you don't get charged more at the toll booths (often the toll is discounted). It is so convenient. And you can use it on virtually all of the toll roads in the Eastern US.:

actually they do charge - $1/month for the privilege of having it! i know, I have one!!!!

In New York State there is no charge, so I assumed it would be the same in other states. Still, $12 a year is a bargain, and you would probably make up the $12 in discounted tolls.

sadly in NJ they stopped the discount! the only advantage is going through ezpass lanes and a few are regular speed lanes, no stopping or slowing down needed.....i wonder if i can get a ny ezpass and save the fee......

Hey, of course I feed even when Rosy's on high bg. Just give the LC fuds will be fine. Imagine you are not feeling well & your caretaker tell you no food?!
That perfect dental report is a summary of the mumbeans hardwork! Congrats!
I am ashamed to say, I dare not go to my dentist for checkup lately because I am sure I need a root canal which I dreaded!
