baileys doing great. hes fab in himself. numbers seem to be settling on the lowered dose BUT.................... hes got a huge fatty lump on his neck. I don't inject there now as I don't know what im injecting into :-(

I asked my amazing vet to do a home visit yesterday as it seemed pointless sedating him to just have a feel.so he popped in.although bailey hissed at him as soon as he walked through the door, the vet was able to feel the lump.the vet said it was very unusual (of course it was .....its bailey) he said it could be imflammation of his fatty tissue. I wondered though if that was the case could this have been caused by a needle that's perhaps got dirty (I don't know how as I use a fresh one every time)

anyway hes going in for a biopsy a week on tue (24th) for sedation to be cut, biopsy, stitched but im scared of it being something horrid. weve gone through so much and to do so well I don't know how id deal with it if it was C.

oooo I hope so.it just worries me. its huge and has come on all of a sudden. the vets reassured me a little by saying his numbers wouldn't be this good if it was something horrid but it doesn't stop you worrying does it???

Sending vines for Bailey. The odds are on your side that it's not C so try not to worry too much :bighug: I don't think it could be a dirty needle, since we use the same needles humans do we would have heard if there was a problem with them.

In older animals, dogs and cats, fatty lumps can be common. How big is it? Is it loose and moves easily? Paws crossed for a boring biopsy result.:bighug:

I see Bailey hasn't gotten into greens lately. I'd be tempted to take him back up to 4.5 units.

Coming on suddenly isn't a characteristic of most lipomas.
Does it feel squishy like it is filled with fluid?

I've had cancer, and I've dealt with it in several cats, and I can tell you that it would be very unusual for a large lump that comes on suddenly to be cancerous. You're smart to have it removed, since if it was a rare instance of cancer, you'd want it out of there, but I'm betting that it's benign. Until Tuesday, try to keep as busy as possible, to help you get through the waiting, and keep telling yourself that it's almost certainly benign. The waiting really stinks.

hit feels very fatty real fatty and fluidy if that makes sense and moves. so when he sleeps on his side. It goes to that side. which apparently is a good sign!! its huge . the whole width of his neck . I worry although he doesn't seem ill AT ALL!

You wouldn't believe it would you.its 6.30am here and baileys just woke me. Ive tested him and he was at 65.a quick dash to kitchen and his favourite sugary yoghurt then followed.hes safe for now at 71.hes eaten fine no doe increase so no idea what or why that just happened!

haha yes it does indeed! were ok here. hes a good breakfast with yoghurt as a starter :-/ and hes up to 98 but il test again in abit to check food/yoghurt hasn't worn off. what a clever boy waking me.........il never get a lie in!

Hi Anna,

Bertie has a squishy sort of swelling on his side where I was injecting him for a little while. Vet wasn't sure what it was, but drew some fluid off and thought it looked like some kind of infection, possibly (though wasn't sure). He had a course of antibiotics and the lump went down, but it has come back since, and gone since, and come, and gone... Vet would rather not operate given Bert's age. And it doesn't seem to bother Bert, so we're just keeping an eye on it.
When I told the vet that I'd injected in that spot he was shocked and told me off, saying I should stick to the scruff of the neck; and that I'd probably "provoked a reaction" in the tissue! I felt really bad about that, but have never heard of anyone else having a problem...

Keeping fingers and paws crossed here that all goes well for Bailey's vet visit.

Big hug to you, :bighug:

Eliz
