Good morning!
AMPS 146 shooting 2.25u

Boomer ate most of his overnight food, leaving about 1/3 of a serving.

Today is the 5th anniversary of the day we took Boomer in to see Dr Larry because we noticed that Boomer had lost weight. When Dr Larry called in the evening with the results of the b/w, I told him "please do not tell me it's CKD" (having lost 2 cats to CKD within the previous 2 years with the most recent one being only 5 months before). He said "no, his kidneys are fine. He is diabetic." I was stunned. I had not seen the signs, though DH said he had suspected it. Very stressful time; we had a 2 week vacation booked for the following month and a shy kitty that I knew would not let anyone else test. Long story but the end result was a wonderful cat sitter that came in twice a day but Boomer would not let her shoot so he was off of insulin for those 2 weeks (not good I know but no choice and a lot less stressful for me being away from home and knowing no one was monitoring for 12 hour periods). Since then he's been in remission 3 times and I can actually say now that all five Ps are in place since he recently started playing! Many thanks to the members of the FDMB who have helped us through these last 5 years!!!

It's going to be nasty here today; right now its snowing and quite windy but ice rain is expected. DH's appt is 11:40 (+4.5) and I think it might be a nasty walk.

Yesterday I got out in the afternoon; the light was terrible but I knew it might be my only chance for the next few days. There has been a Wood Duck spotted (in a heated pond in one of our parks) for several days; I've been there 5 times within the last few days and didn't see it:( Well the 6th visit was the charm and despite the horrible light that was present I managed to get a few decent shots. This is a male Wood Duck with breeding colours.

Boomer is lucky to have you. It's a testament to your care in how well he is doing now. I hope you will see another remission. Love the picture. Be careful in that weather. Sending prayers for your DH.

That wood duck is gorgeous.. now I understand why you were trying so hard to find him to take pictures of.

Is Boomer still a shy kitty? Happy 5 years .. you have done great by Boomer!

Boomer, Happy Annifursary! 5 years and doing well. Keep on keeping on. OTJ is great, but a happy, well regulated life with beans who love you is the best. I hope you get some nice treats today.

Hi Judy, The storm hasn't started here yet, but it is supposed to be all snow (about a foot--yay!). I hope the sidewalks aren't too bad when DH has to walk to his therapy. How is the treatment going? Interesting that he has to go at different times each day. Mine was always at 8 a.m. and my "team" was there waiting.

Great picture of the wood duck. What a beauty he is!

Happy Annifursary Boomer, you're doing great.

Great photo Judy, the colours are so vibrant, even if the light wasn't so good, you managed a super photo.
Hope the walk to therapy goes OK and you get there and back safely. Stay warm

And Boomer, behave yourself please.

Hi Ella! Treatment is going well, some side effects from the hormone shot but none from the radiation yet; it's too soon. I don't know why the treatments are at different times each day but I don't mind it...my fear was that the treatments would be around Boomer's onset time; so far there hasn't been a problem although there is an appt on Thursday that is a bit problematic.
Please feel free to keep the snow your way!

Happy Annifersary !!! Boomer is doing so well and hopefully soon OTJ again. It speaks highly of the dedication of his beans.

Hope your walk to treatment is during a lull in the weather. Bundle up. How is husband tolerating the treatments?

The duck is absolutely stunning, how could any female resist his colors!!!!!!

The wood ducks tend to hang out along the edge of the river and of course it's never the side that I'm on...so it's difficult to get a good shot of them. I was very happy to see this guy!
Yes Boomer is still shy although sometimes he surprises me.
Last night he scared me....I was just drifting off to sleep and he was laying beside me and all of a sudden he sat up and started watching the bedroom door. He obviously heard something that concerned him.....I listened and couldn't hear anything. After quite a few minutes he laid down although he stayed awake watching.

I thought that might be happening; Boomer's been yelling at me for about 10 minutes and usually at this time of day I have to go get him to test/feed.
I think DH may be going to his appt on his own today.

Boomer's doing Great. I hope he continues to slowly come down.

almost looks fake
I agree! That Photo is so Perfect! :) Just goes to show what a really Great photographer you are :D AMAZING!

Good to hear DH is doing well with the Treatments. If he's walking or driving today he needs to be super cautious! I have the same weather here. Everything is covered in ice!
It looks very beautiful! If the sun were shining it would look even more amazing! I'm afraid to walk down my driveway, it's a sheet of ice!

Dh went to his appt by himself so that I could stay home with Boomer who surfed nicely of course  Dh said the sidewalks were a bit slippery and the main roads very slushy. He's been back home for a while, has snow-blowed our driveway and a couple of others, and is about to sit and watch tv (aka nap).

I love it! Happy FD Annifursary Boomer! It's amazing how well he's doing, and that's obviously partially Boomer and partially the fantastic care he receives from you and DH. :joyful: I'm glad DH made it there and back safely. Stay warm and safe!

Is it really a Happy Anniversary?? I wish none of us spent time with this disease.

I agree with Sandi, that photo is so vibrant and clear that the duck looks fake almost like a decoy!
