My latest figue out will be trying to figure how often an how long to continue sub q fluids. They seem to be the magic ingredient
Yes, fluids do indeed help for cats with kidney issues or cats who are dehydrated. How much are you giving him every day? Are the labs in his SS the latest ones? 8/31/22? I was wondering what his kidney values look like. I give Bandit fluids every day - they seem to really help. Her kidney values have come down and stayed stable in the last 15 months or so. At one point I was giving her pills for nausea, appetite, acidity etc - I was able to stop all of those about 2 weeks after starting daily fluids.

Tagging @tiffmaxee and @Bron and Sheba (GA) who have experience with pancreatitis and CKD.

I too gave daily fluids when Max developed ckd. He got 100ml once a day and later morning and night. With a bad pancreatitis episode he sometimes got 150 by my vet but I wonder if that contributed to his going into chf.

Wow @Bandit's Mom ! That is a great case for fluids! Right now i am on day 6 of 100ml daily. I was considering to switching to every other day until the bag is empty ( but that is an uneducated guess)
Landos latest labs were the 2022 labs in his SS
the last time i took him to the vet ( for a nail trim in NOV) he freaked out so badly that i think it led to his last flare. Ive been chicken to take him back in since.

thank you for your insight @tiffmaxee . Its interesting that you suspect too much fluids wasnt a good thing ?

Not good for kitties with heart conditions, which we discovered Neko also had as a result of fluids. And she went into CHF too, twice. Usually the amount of fluids is based somewhat on the cat's weight, and Lando looks like a "healthy" size.

Too much fluids is only dangerous if a cat has heart disease. Max had it unfortunately which my vet suspected but the radiologist said his X-rays were normal. Daily fluids are better than every other day as it keeps them constantly hydrated. In Max’s case he was tipped into CHF by getting 150 or 200 ml which was I much all at once. He really did well in 100ml once a day.
