Spitzer is stabilizing slowly from the pancreatitis, IBD, mycoplasma felis, and whatever else is going on. He is so very boney. I think he may have lost more weight and he had little to spare.
I love pill pockets ... or rather, Spitzer does. This makes the 2 morning and 4 evening pills a snap to give. No prying open his mouth, no forcing water down after pills so they don't get stuck, no salivating slime due to bad taste. And he gets fresh food right after the pills, which ensures that they get to the stomach. He'll be done with the cyclosporin tomorrow. The ondansetron and Pepcid are maintenance meds now, so that nauseau and an acid stomach don't stop him from eating. The doxycline for the mycoplasma felis (formerly called bartonella of some sort) has another week and a half to go.
He's up to 3.5-4 units of insulin, since I moved him off the Great choice/Sophisticat (has carrageenan, which may upset GI tracts) at 0-ish carb calories, to a mix of Fancy Feast and Purina Pro Plan at 6%. I was adding in some dry Wellness Core (10-11% carb calories), but I'm seeing digestive upsets among some of the other cats, so I'm going to back off that.
I picked up some powdered digestive enzymes for pets from the Vitamin Shoppe in Columbus (availble from various sources online too, but I was in a hurry). I can't tell yet if its helping or not, but he doesn't seem to mind eating the food with the powder mixed in.
I keep trying to help him. I wish something would 'click' and he'd get stable, gain weight, and have stable glucose levels. I don't know how much longer he can keep going.
