Hello everyone, hope you all slept well while your kitties surfed safely :) Willow BG was up a bit last night, no idea what that was about. Then there is this morning's AMPS...the highest since I can remember (actually since Jan 17)....I have no idea what's going on. We'll see what today brings. Wishing you all a great day! With love, Nikki

ETA question re spreadsheet and creeping numbers in comments, thanks!

AMPS 8.0 (144)

To add to the caliper conversation from a couple of days ago...

I used these to see better. They really made a difference. It also allows the use of both hands when drawing the dose.

Lol Thanks so much, I actually ordered the same brand (I don't know about model but looks the same) the other day and expect them next week :) I have a little light box I use, but I squint over it with one eye closed, these should really help lol.

I have something similar, and it has made a big difference in me being able to use the calipers. I wear glasses, and i just put them on over my glasses.

Hope Willow gets back down to her green surf territory today :D

Hi everyone, would you mind taking a peek at Willow's SS and tell me if I'm jumping to conclusions?

She doesn't seem to be doing as well, slowly creeping numbers up since we started with the caliper. We started to look at the zero lines on the syringes and trying to eyeball adjust dose to consistent 1.25 U as far as 2 days before we got the caliper, which may very well account for the blues on the SS on the 30th of Jan.

I'm thinking that maybe I've underjudged the dosage I was giving her prior, and now she's getting too low a dose? (I thought I was dosing to 1.25U, but when I got the calipers I figured I'd actually been dosing to 1.5U, but even that may be wrong). I'm still on the same box of BD syringes, but this bag in particular seems to have the "zero" line spot on where it should be, so she's getting a very consistent 1.5 U, confirmed with the locked caliper. I know that many of her previous syringes were off (ie/ the zero line was way too low) by as much as 1/2 unit, maybe more (I took out some old used syringes from the sharps container and checked the zero lines...very wonky.)

So, I'm thinking it's possible maybe she had been getting a varied dose from 1.25U to ?U because of poorly marked syringes (I always dosed to the 1.25U spot) and her depot which built up on the higher days carried her through on the lower days to maintain a nice green surf? But now that she's getting a consistent dose, her depot isn't filling up enough to cover, and her current dose isn't high enough?

Does this make any sense? Am I jumping to conclusions too fast? Should I increase? AAArgh lol.

Thanks so much for any thoughts/advice, with love, Nikki

I remember the first time I read about micro-dosing and using calipers and these headsets I thought "Yeah, I don't need to do all that". 6 months later, I can't imagine managing a diabetic cat without calipers and a headset. Both have been lifesavers (literally for my cat!!).

I am trying to see when you started using calipers. Could you put a comment on the spreadsheet? I am looking for six cycles on the dose as measured by calipers. Once you have that then the depot is established for that dose, and if you aren’t happy with her numbers, you can increaee. The beauty of calipers is that you can increase consistently by smaller amounts, should you want to at some point.

I have a row added in my world ss, did it not show up on the us SS? Darn

No internet access and can't fix with phone. Started calipers 1st of Feb in am. Will wait full 6 cycles. Sorry about that, will fix us SS later . With love, Nikki
ETA...Fixed (added row to US SS).
Thanks, @Wendy&Neko
