At the end of December I started helping a friend with dosing for their cat Precious. They had previously been adjusting the dose every 12 hours based on the PS number with Glargine insulin. We set the dose at 1.5 because that was the highest dose they typically did and she still trended high for PS numbers, usually between 300-400.
The soonest we can do another curve is Sunday, but we had a scare yesterday morning when she had an AMPS of 63. We ended up skipping insulin completely for the day as they weren't able to do an on-time PMPS test (they were fed on time, but did not get tested until about 2 hours later and were at 245).
I'll post again after we get more data from another curve, but the spreadsheet does also have the 2023 data where the dose was being changed frequently. The low PS numbers make me nervous given how low she normally drops for curves, but I can't think of what could be causing these dips. Generally I know we want to get the PS numbers lower, however I'm nervous to go up with the nadir dropping so heavily and I'm nervous to go down because I'd like to not have her jump over 400.
I likely won't encourage a full on dose change until after we see the curve this weekend, but I wanted to see if I could get some eyes on the spreadsheet and hopefully some insight into the unusual drops. It is a multi-cat and dog household, and she is fed FF twice a day and monitored while she finishes it to prevent food theft. The only way to feed more frequently due to the other cats would be to separate Precious all day as we cannot do an additional monitored feeding.
