Willow may not have had a particularly active cycle yesterday, but my, was it ever flat lol. Hoping for another similar day, and wishing you and your kitties a safe day of surfing :) With love, Nikki

Other than the blue AMPS (which isn't that far off from the rest of the cycle), Willow was basically within the same points the entire day. What a fantastically perfect cycle!! I hope she keeps up that good work today!

I haven’t been on in a few days to see the tag with your questions about TR and her dose. I’m glad you got responses on the dose. She’s really looking fantastic on this dose. For some cats like her, the dose might be held for a very long time.

You had the following question which no one answered:

The goal of TR is to have them tightly regulated with numbers between 50-99 (human meter) to allow the pancreas to heal. That might mean remission or it might just mean that’s where they are. Chris’s China was tightly regulated for a very long time but when she tried a remission trial, China just couldn’t hang onto it so she had to go back on insulin where she stayed tightly regulated until she got sick.

We have noticed in cats that have had hypos and lived, that it does sometime nudge them into remission, at least for a short time, because they are so sensitive to insulin. It’s not safe and not what we want to do here. We just want to give the pancreas support with a safe dose of insulin so the beta cells can heal. This usually takes time and lots of patience.

You are doing a super job!!!

Hi Marje, thanks for your response. Somebody (Wendy?) mentioned the numbers, and I was surprised to realize how close Willow is already...I hope she gets further (I did look at China's SS, as another recommended...wow. Just wow.) I really hope Willow reaches TR and that dh and I can manage nearly as well as Chris did, and if that is where Willow stays, that is fine. Although I would also be very happy if she achieves remission, even for a bit ;)

As for the nudging not being what you do here...that is exactly what I needed to hear. I wasn't sure if that was an extra step I would eventually need to take in order to achieve the goal of TR, and if so I felt I might not be able to do it. I have time, and I have had to develop patience over the last few years lol.

I honestly don't know what I would do without this group; I'm pretty confident Willow would have died, or at least had a few episodes of severe hypoglycemia. We thank you all so very, very much. With love, Nikki

She might be one that earns reductions by staying mostly green for a week. That would be great but you test enough to catch her if she does decide to dip below 50.
