Today:

WCR: Weight = 10.76 lbs. New pen opened AMPS. Bubbles in old one, and it was about 1/4 empty. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm not sure if I've got a faulty batch of pens, or if I'm doing something wrong. If this keeps up, I may have to use the vials instead. I'm trying to be extremely careful with them when I insert the syringes into the rubber tips. I'm not sure if I'm moving the tip of the syringe to any direction which allows air to go into the pen, or not. I didn't make 18 days with the old one. I need to pay much more closer attention when I draw. Her AMPS this morning... I'm not sure if that's the result of the pen having a bubble in it last night, or not. I saw the tiny bubble this morning, and wasn't sure if that was within the plastic itself, but then I saw another bubble where the syringe needle was, and that sealed the pen's fate. I don't know... I just don't know...

A nice blue start for Blackie this morning. No doubt off to the greens soon. Her numbers are fantastic.

I've had the same problem with my latest batch of pens too. It is more than annoying.

You had bubbles in the pen, or bubbles in the syringe?
I rarely can draw a dose without bubbles, it's just part of the twice daily routine for me, to flick at those bubbles in the syringe.

Good Morning Angela, Blackie and fur crew,

I'm sorry you are having such a problem with the pens. In the future it might be more economical to get the vial. The pens are supposed to be under pressure, but maybe the presence of bubbles suggests that the pressure is not adequate. You might consider taking them back to whereever you bought them and asking the pharmacist to return them to the manufacturer on the basis that they are not satisfactory. It might take a while, but might be worth the wait. I had a Levemir Flexpen that always smelled like the insulin. I took it back to the pharmacy. They sent it back to the manufacturer, and eventually they called me and said they had a new, replacement pen for me. It took a few months (I had actually forgotten about it).

I'm going to watch how I insert the syringe into the pen, and I know I never can draw the insulin into the syringe without getting the stubborn bubbles to try and remove later.

Blackie arrives in the lagoon with a big splash :mrgreen:

About the pens, I've never had one that didn't develop a bubble over time, and gets bigger with more draws.
Even holding the syringe plunger firmly pressed while inserting needle, I still often see a little bubble go into the pen.
I've never seen the dispenser thingy (excuse tech language) but I assume it sort of acts like a syringe and the
black "stopper" is pressed down with each dose? Anyway, I've always used most of the juice in the pens, and
haven't noticed it going toasty..

She'll be getting another dose increase tomorrow. This is ridiculous. I don't understand why she's so high this morning, and this evening. Other than perhaps getting into some contraband leftovers... I didn't see her do any floor licking as I wasn't there both times. I just don't get it.
