Looking good...now that is a pretty curve even dipped his toe into the greens...Woohoo.

See Lucian it is fun down here on the blue and green floors and not scary at all. :-D

He may bounce a little on you since he hasn't seen green before, just try not to react if he gives you higher numbers either later tonight or tomorrow. But you look like you are headed in the right direction.

I think he did a little bounce last night, after hitting blue for the 1st time yesterday, so I kinda expect it. But I was so much happier with his numbers so far today.

I did do an extra test after that green, just to be on the safe side, was a little concerned, it was his first after all. :smile:

He normally eats FF 3-4 carbs, but I have 9 lives Tuna that has 8 and I know it is still considered ok, I don't give it to him normally. I did give him about 2 tsp with 1 tsp of FF after that 98, just to be safe.

I have a HYPO kit, with high carb, but knew he didn't need that. I keep that for emergencies.

I'm actually very happy with what he has shown me today, even if he does bounce a little later. :-D

He will eventually get use to those blues and greens and his body will quit freaking out on them...just he has been high for so long that he doesn't know what normal or at least lower feels like...I kind of equate it to if you have been on a boat for awhile your body gets use to the rock and the sway of the boat, so when you first come back on land your legs feel funny when you try to walk on a surface that isn't moving.

Some kitties also take longer to settle into a dose...Autumn sure does....she takes about 2 weeks to decide if she likes a dose or not...lol

After 11 doses at 1.5 I felt he needed more, so we'll see.

It's been 2 weeks since I brought him home, feels like a year! :lol:

You know you have been at this awhile when you are out with friends and they look at their watchs and ask you.."Don't you need to go test a kitty? It's 10pm" :lol:

Or they no longer look at you strange when you say your running home to shoot the cat.

Wait until the first time you wake up in the morning and have to check your meter to see if you actually tested Lucian or just dreamed you did...been there, done that. :lol:

And he only ate 2 bites after his test, will try to give him a little more in a bit.
 
Hi, just checking in to see how you & Lucian are doing. How is Lucian acting? BTW, on your PMPS column for yesterday, you have the dose as "175.0".
 
I go do that all the time. Lucian's SS for 1/25-1/26 looks real similar to Gobbles SS for 1/24-1/26. I am waiting for the bounce to clear. In light of Gob's numbers, I can certainly tell just from observing his behavior these past few days (see his SS notes -perky, playing, running, not sleeping as much) that h is feeling much better; I am basically paying no real attention to his numbers. I'll test him at +6, which is usually his nadir, to see how the insulin is working. How is Lucian's behavior? And behavior compared to the past few weeks?
 
He's a little more social when he's close to normal #'s. Before he got sick, he always slept cuddled into my armpit every night. In the last couple days, he's got on the bed and cuddled for a few minutes, taking a nap, but still spends most his time under the table. He started staying there when he got sick, because the water bowl is near there and he was thirsty all the time. Maybe, once I can get his numbers regulated, he'll come back to snuggling in bed again.

Lucian is not a lap cat, never has been, his only show of affection was at night. Of course, since all I did was work until recently, they were alone most of the time. So we never really played much etc. Although they will play together with nip. :lol: They all played when they were younger, but seem to have lost interest with age. Only the 6 yo will play some now. Lucian was a 'barn cat', my son got him when he was 6 weeks old, so he wasn't quite feral, but not quite normal either. :lol:
 
Autum is a former barn cat/kinda house cat too, and one thing I have notice with all the former barn cats that I turned into housecats (and there have been a few since I use to raise Arabian Horses..lol) is that they don't have the interest in most toys..it's like you dangle a string for them and they give you that "Oh get real" look..lol But let a live mouse run across the floor and they are on it like white on rice.. :lol:

A very good, experience friend told me that her vet told her that when a cat's BG is high, he/she may feel like a human does when they get a hangover.
 
Oh yeah Mel, when he was allowed outside, he would bring me 'gifts', frogs, lizards, rats, etc, mice from the fields next door, sometimes still alive! Both he and Meow Meow (Shadow) would bring in their prey, too many times we'd have to chase down mice and throw them out. :lol: But no interest in toys at all. Patches would play with toys when young, now will bat a string once or twice and then loses interest. I quit wasting money on toys a few years ago, have a whole basket that they aren't interested in.


I can see the comparison to being hung over, that makes sense to me, had my share years ago! :o But the older I got, the worse they got, so I limit my self to one now, no more hangovers for me! It's been years and I think it took me 3 days to get over the last one! :lol:
