So excited! Willow is at 2.9 (52) at +4!! That's after her scheduled meal of 1/8 can LC FF at +3!!! I had to feed her scheduled meal of 1/8 can LC FF with 1/2 tsp pumpkin after the +4, so I don't know if she'll hit the "earned reduction" mark of 50 (28). I'll recheck shortly :)
*excited and nervous, because I don't think Willow is very carb sensitive. I have loads of hi carb and syrup, and she's always hungry, which is good.

Hi, so at +4.25 she hit 2.8 (50). Will recheck in 15. She was fed 1/8 can LC FF at +3, and another 1/8 can LC FF with 1/2 tsp pumpkin at +4. Will retest at +4.5, would appreciate advice on how much of which food to feed (have med and hi, as well as syrup) if she's still dropping. Thanks, with love

If she is dropping, do not give too much food. We recommend limiting it to 1-2 teaspoons of food. I'd do LC since it seems to be a gradual drop. I don't know if MC is needed since you don't want to abort the cycle with too much carbs when the insulin is wearing off.

What I've learned to do is feed 1 tsp of food at a time (I usually start giving HC food once Ming hits 2.8 but ECID and I see Mandy has recommended LC) and retest in 30 minutes. It takes 30 minutes for food to take effect. 2.8 is not a scary number (yet).

Thanks, I'm not too worried since i use the freestyle lite which I've been told may read low at lower numbers, but I'm also a worrier lol. I think I'll go with HC if she is still dropping, since I don't think she's very carb sensitive.

Yay, +4.5 is 3.0 (54) so I'll just watch. I'll recheck in 15, and if she's still rising will check again in 30 min, until I'm comfortable she's on a trend.
So, that was (a) her lowest and (b) her steepest drop, so I guess I'll expect a bounce (which for willow will probably be in the 150s lol).
Thanks for the help, everyone! With love, Nikki

Hello all, a quick question on bounces (since I fully expect a bounce, as this was her farthest and fasted BG drop, and it seems like it already started...) So far Willow's bounces have been tiny increases to above her usual BG levels, quickly returning to her usual levels. With a larger bounce can I expect her to drop as well? As in a ball bouncing up and down, smaller bounces each time, till it returns to her normal. And if so, is it likely to drop very low? I guess, what can I sort of anticipate/look for?
Thanks so much, with love, Nikki

Sorry, but ECID on how cats handle bounces. Willow may surprise you and not bounce too high. She has seen the 50’s before, but not for as long a stretch. Some cats bounce more from steep drops than low numbers.

Good job handling the numbers tonight. One thing not mentioned when you asked about quantities is that you feed 1-2 tsp only, so as to not fill them up, in case numbers stay low and you need them to keep eating.

Thanks. This was a pretty steep drop for her, I think, certainly more so than her regular. I just fed her her regular feedings, as I spread her meals out over 7 feedings in the day (ending at 2, with a small treat/meal at 5) and 6 meals at night; so her 1/8 can feedings are just 2 tsp each. We're going to try to consolidate her feedings into fewer/larger and earlier meals so as not to interfere with her cycle, though she seems to do alright as she is fed now.
With love, Nikki
