Well, the power is back on for now. Only about 26 hrs for us. Still prepared as it is really a nasty mess out there. The ice has taken down many, many trees & power lines. There are still over 250,000 w/o power. We lost a 27 yr old cherry tree we planted, one huge branch at a time. With all the snow that fell and then the melt/freeze, the trees were beyond weighted down with serious ice. So sad to see everything drooping and breaking. We are very fortunate though as we have heat no matter what.
As for Sam, he's doing well. Still in the green even with the dosecrease to .25. Just wondering though if any of you have had experience with the newer Freestyle Lite meters. Seems like I read that they weren't super popular as they tended to read low, am I correct? I'm asking because my hubby has a new one as a promo so I decided to test it along with my current meter. In just 4 tests it read between 20 and 50 points lower than mine. This is really concerning as I don't know which to believe. When I switched to the Cleverchoice Voice by Simple Diagnostics, it seemed to read similar to my husband's Bayer Breeze. Haven't compared in awhile, so probably should again, but I really do like the meter. Easy to use, little blood & nice readout. I know many of you have never heard of it. My sister was given it through Medicare. It seems to have fairly good reviews, (although not many) so I am going to continue to use it unless otherwise suggested. I would love to use the Freestyle though as well, as a backup since it is so easy to use, and very small, but just don't know how reliable it is...or is it mine? I just hate this since Sam is in such low numbers I don't want to get a wrong reading. If I had been using the Freestyle all along Sam would have been reading in the 40s much of the time, but he survived either way! nailbite_smile
Guess I'm asking for opinions, ideas, whatever. Just a bit confused. Hope you all are doing well and staying warm. Hope power continues on for us!
