You can test her every hour. Feed a little LC with every test. We usually test more often than that only for numbers below or close to 50.

And remember that even though 50-99 is terrifying, they are NORMAL numbers! :-)

Sometimes her BG doesn’t respond to MC
 
Yes I’m retraining my brain to understand this more and more. Green is good... it’s hard when you’re so used to higher numbers. But I’m so happy she is healing. :)

well I have been wondering what direction Missy will be going in tonight. Usually its the daytime she will go lower and increase in the evening. Today she was a nice steady blue... and looks like thats whats happening tonight as well. Any suggestions to keep her stable.. I was doing 1/4 can of LC every hour when I test her. It seemed to work pretty good. But I guess that means no sleep for me tonight if thats the case. o_O

Just test her every hour and feed her a spoon or two of LC after each test :-)
Most cats go lower at night, so you might see green again tonight!

Post the test results here every hour and we will let you know if anything needs to be changed - either testing more often or feeding higher carbs.

I had another look and corrected a few. I’m pretty sure this is the closet to what is on the list that I have.

I gave her about 2tbs. It’s really hard to just get the gravy. She’s eating the gravy but leaving probably half the meat.
Just so I am prepared. What do I do if she doesn’t eat at some point because she’s probably starting to get full.
 
When she gets too full, you give her only the gravy - when you want to raise low numbers.
1/4can after each test may have been too much. What is her daily quota of food? 3 cans? 2?
 
Yes she eats 3 cans. Whatever she wants. I’m not strict with that. I’m wanting her to put weight on. So if she’s hungry I feed her. But usually 3 cans.

she has eaten it all now and licked the spoon. Hopefully that will work.
 
I’m getting worried. What if she’s dropping lower? I find she is not really carb sensitive. Last time this happened the MC food didn’t do much. She dropped as well.

I know you have other people to help but if I don’t hear from you for a while can you give me an idea of the decisions I need to make and when. Just so I’m ready to act if need be.

Correct me if I’m wrong but should I be offering HC food yet?
What would someone do if their cat was having a hypo attack. Rub honey or corn syrup on gums. I’ve read all the sheets. I also read if they are having a seizure to put honey or corn syrup up their bum. Is that correct? How much would you put up the bum? :(

Great. I think it's safe to test in an hour. I think the drop has slowed and 80 is a good safe number. Just because they fall 100 points in the first hour, does not mean they will continue to fall at the same pace every hour. Marje explained it in a post recently. Let me find it for you. :)

Tammy, you are in Canada, right? You can enter the numbers in the World mmol tab of your SS and it will automatically calculate the US values for you.
 
Yes I am in Canada. For some reason I can’t get the conversion tab to work so I have to convert her BG.

So I just tested at +4 and she dropped a tiny bit to 79.

+2 104 - fed MC
+2.5 81
+3 81 - fed little bit of LC with a teaspoon of gravy
+4 79

What’s our next move?
 
More LC (1 sp) and test in an hour. She has flattened out since +2.5. She should hopefully stay flat.

Not at all! All the hard work and stress and worry is all you! :bighug:

You have to keep testing till she starts heading up without food. So, test at +5 - if she is higher, don't feed and test again at +6 to see if she stays up without a snack. I will check back at your +5 nevertheless. So test and post here before feeding her, okay?
