New Kitten found The Christmas Tree, today.

New Kitten still doesn't have a name, poor baby. Although I do call him Squirt, and Scamp and Stinkey Boy among other things.

He was 3 pounds 8 ounces last Saturday, and is 3 pounds 15 ounces today, so he gained 7 ounces in a week. He's still eating a lot of food. In two weeks, we have an appointment to get his micro chip and rabies vaccine.

There is this little conflict on my mind: The Rescue organization said that he is to get a third distemper shot, and my vet says they only give two distemper shots to kittens, and since he already had his first two, my vet says he doesn't need another one.

Ginger and the baby are getting along pretty good, and Ginger is getting a lot more exercise playing with him. They sometimes eat out of the same dish, and sleep close to each other. The baby is very affectionate to me and usually starts his evening by sleeping on me, and then retires to J.D.'s cat tree, until I go to bed.

I did cry a bit for J.D. today, and yesterday. His memory and my loss is still there..

We are now short handed at work, so again, I have to fill in extra hours. I no longer have to be home at a certain time for shots, so I just work them.

This kitties are playing and I want to watch them, so off I am.

Cute Mr. No Name. You will always feel J.D's loss. It will just gradually hurt a little less. I think of Tiffany every day, many times a day. She required a lot of attention just like our FD kitties which created a special bond, more I think than with those who don't need the special care. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Dyana.

:DI just L-O-V-E that pic.

I'm so glad to hear that they are getting along. I was afraid Ginger wouldn't accept him.
black white kitty... all I have is still Oreo. or some indian names...

I'm sure his name will come.

Glad to see that Ginger and "Mr no name" are getting along. He is such a cutie! J.D. will always be in your heart and you will have tears now & then, but know that J.D. is very happy that you have "Mr. no name" and that Ginger has a "buddy." Thanks for the pic.
Take care,
Paula

Oh, Dyana, he is such a cute kitty! And Ginger is doing well, minding the baby while mamabean is at work. This is a wonderful report. J.D. is smiling down on you all.

:bighug::bighug::bighug: and scritches,

.awwww the little no name looks like he's waving at us :):):) and it's great to hear that Ginger has accepted him.

I still cry about my furry and feathery ones that passed more than 10 years ago - love isn't diminished over time - but I also have times when I smile at the wonderful memories that I have of them. If we didn't love them and enjoy them so much when they were with us then it wouldn't hurt so much when they go - that's the trade off and as much as you hurt I'm sure you'll agree it is worth it. I hope you're having some smiles as well as the tears. I'm sure J.D. would want you remembering the happy times you shared :bighug::bighug::bighug:

What an adorable picture of new kitten! I am so glad to hear how well he and Ginger are getting along. :bighug:

He's such a cutie. I'm sure the name will come when the timing is right. All of my cats have more than one name and they respond to them all. I'm glad Ginger and the new guy are getting along. I hope you have some smiles as you remember J.D. too. There will always be tears, but I hope the smiles come too.

Such a cute kitten. I'm kind of partial to black and white kitties. It's so fun when they are little. Peg and Toby

Dyana,

Thanks so much for providing us with an update. I'm so happy Ginger and the new kitten are getting along better. It's always an adjustment when a new member joins the family.

That pic perfectly explains why I don't put up our big Christmas tree anymore! I was awakened one too many nights by the sound of falling Christmas trees in the living room. Of course, I do have really big cats who are not very graceful. :)

:bighug:

That is the cutest picture ever !! I'm glad Ginger is growing to love the new little guy...it sounds like she's adjusting beautifully.

The loss and memories will always be there, and be part of who you are now. J.D. is very happy, though, that you have shared your big heart with another kitty, so his legacy can live on!

I have been waiting for a Caturday report on the baby. That's a great picture and I am so glad to hear that him and Ginger are getting along.

I thought the picture was clickable and would open to other pictures:

I wasn't exactly in my usual Christmas Spirit this year, so the only ornament on the tree is J.D.'s paw prints. The outdoor lights and the big tree (that switches from all white lights to all colored lights) was all I could manage, and a couple of presents for Ginger.

The Kitten seems to learn fast, and I'm sure he is open to learning new things.
He tried getting in the tree this morning, and I kept telling him "No" and he has stopped, for now..knock on wood.
He also was climbing up my leg while I was in the kitchen this morning, and I kind of screamed, because it hurt and his nails are sharp and I could feel all 18 of them, and he ran off, so hopefully he is learning.

Yesterday, I took him for several very short walks (mostly I just held him and carried him about 30 feet), but he was in a harness & leash (just in case) and I allowed him to walk/run/slink home each time to the front door, so he learns where home is.
He became very scared each time he heard a car (even though the cars are far away from where we were).
I like that he is afraid of cars.

This morning, it is raining outside.
He kept wanting to go outside.
I was throwing peanuts to the squirrels (yes, they are out there in the freezing cold rain), and he escaped twice on me and I caught him quickly.
I put his harness & leash on and opened the front door, and he went right to the deck and to the outside of the sliding glass door to be let in :)

He enjoys watching TinyKittens live feed with me on the computer.

I think you have a kitten ornament in the middle of the tree as well. :) It is good to hear he is going outside with you, I bet by summer he will be walking on his harness all over the place with you and Ginger. Love the new pictures of him in the middle of the tree.

He may not have a name yet, but wow, he sure has stolen a lot of hearts. What an absolutely adorable baby cat. Those eyes. That nose. And those pictures!!!!

Excellent that he and Ginger are hitting it off so well. Interaction is good. I suspect their bond will strengthen as he grows and they become even better buddies.

And, you know, crying for J.D. is o.k. His loss is still so raw. Especially today, I suspect. You miss him. You should. In time, perhaps lots of time, you'll smile; you'll still miss him, but you'll smile at remembering when he was here not cry because he's gone. Often those feelings will come at the same time. It can be so confusing. But it's all o.k.

In the meantime, enjoy
Squirt, and Scamp and Stinkey Boy
.

He is a gift. In so many ways.

His pictures are adorable. He looks so comfy laying in the cat tree. Hope you can find a name for him soon.

Terri

Dyana, he is a darling! I think he is J.D.'s gift to you and to Ginger. To you to help fill some of the emptiness in your heart, and to Ginger, to help her get more active and more social and to have a companion. Isn't it wonderful how J.D. is sending you love from the Bridge?

The Christmas Tree came down early this year, last weekend, the day after I posted those pictures.
It's a nice big tree and the cats now have a lot more room to run around, and run they do. Chasing each other back and forth.
The kitten has started to escape to the big outdoors whenever I open the sliding glass door. Yesterday, I was out in the snow trying to get him just as I was leaving for work. J.D. used to be an escape artist like that. Right now the kitten is sitting at the sliding glass door, waiting.. This is the time I throw peanuts out to the squirrels.
He was running to me and jumping up into my lap whenever I ate anything and getting a taste. I have stopped that as of two days ago. I know it wasn't a good habit for him. Little scoundrel.

I got him his first sweater. It is zebra color and has a green star on the back:

Here they are this morning:

I am exhausted from work. We are short staffed again and I am giving 110% every day. I only get tomorrow off and then another 6 day work week coming up.

Thinking of all those who lost their babies and sending Big Hugs.

He's so cute in his sweater, and Ginger looks like she's really enjoying him! We went through something similar a long time ago...our first kitty, Mr Kitty, passed away, leaving Mario an only cat. A few months later, we adopted our 3 civvies (Noah, Petey, and Zen), and they really lifted Mario's spirits...by himself, he was mellow, but with the kittens, he was running around and playing again.

Stay inside, little guy...it' safer there, and there are lots of fuds inside, too!!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm lovin' this. Thank you, Dyana, for posting. A needed affirmation today.

He is so stinkin' cute. A perfect fit.

I totally agree! It's so great to see him and Ginger together! I think the shelter got it right, everyone has something to be thankfu for there!

GREAT condo! Love those pics! Ginger looks happy and you sound happy. And the kitten! He sure sounds the happiest of all.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. where do you get sweaters for cats? I'm thinking ahead to next month when Rusty goes for an ultrasound and will have to have his belly shaved.

O.M.G. I am going to have to echo Marilyn's squeal. Sqeeeeeeee! The kitten is SO freakin' cute!! I love all the pictures. So glad he is settling in and Ginger and him are getting along! I know J.D. is smiling down on you...happy to know you've taken in another precious kitty because you have so much love to give!

Little scoundrel.
little cutie pie! love the pic of him and Ginger in the cat tree!

it takes time to heal - but doesn't he put a smile in your heart. Mr No Name'll have his own little spot in your heart, just like JD has. One never replaces another.

I've been thinking of you today.

I bought it at WalMart for $2.00 :)

I usually browse their doggy clothes. My cats (well, J.D. was in the picture) would need a Medium Size in dog.

This was a good one, for Rusty, because it has velcro closures that close all the way down the front (tummy) of the kitty from neck to just in front of the back legs.

The sweater was the only one in his (doggy) size. It was hanging with some clothes that had a price tag of $8.97 and it didn't have a price tag. I took it to the register with me, saying to myself that I would pay $5 and no more for it. I asked the lady at the register how much the sweater costs, and she said "there is no tag". "I bought one of these in a larger size for my dog, and it was 2." "Would $2.00 be okay?" and I said "Yeah."
Just to compare, I was looking for a jacket for Ginger before Christmas and the fancy pet store wanted $50.

I just got home from work. I would like to stay in my jammies all day long tomorrow and watch T.V. and rest and play with my kitties. We're getting snow, don't ya know :)

I keep wanting to test my cats. :( It's ingrained in me. When I clean the litter boxes, the pee piles seem big or flooded, but Ginger was only 62 a month ago, so I'm sure they're both okay. I add extra water to their meals. There is always dry out (Kitten kibble mixed with Young Again Zero Carb), if they want it.

What worries me most about the kitten escaping is that he still has another week to go before his Micro Chip is installed and his rabies vaccination. Before, he seemed scared of the great outdoors. Now, he seems to want to explore the world some more. One more week, little boy. And, being out there calling "Kitten" which he does not come to was ridiculious, embarrassing, and frustrating. He really needs a name.

Ginger is waiting for her nightly walk. Gotta go. At least I grew some cat grass, so she has that to munch on, now that the lawns are frozen and brown. It keeps her away from the flowers I keep buying (in J.D.'s memory).

I can totally see why you would want to do this after all the years withJD!! :bighug:

I absolutely love those pictures-every single one of them and I have no idea how I missed this Caturday report--it was very much needed- thank you!! :bighug:

Thanks, Dyana, for the tip on the sweaters. Next time I go to Plattsburgh I will go to Walmart and see what they have.
You'll sure have to keep an eye on your little escape artist. You might alert your immediate neighbors that you have a new kitten who likes to run out the door.

Have a good rest-of-the-weekend,

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
