Chaos had a good day yesterday and today is off to a decent start with 231. I wish I still had the ability to stay up all night because I'm so curious about his nighttime numbers. What is the little guy up to while I sleep? We had a catnip party and then I gave him a good workout with his laser pointer before bed, but I have no clue what goes on with him after midnight. I bought a few varieties of LC wet food and he happily gobbles up any flavor or formula I put in front of him. He's started back up with his happy shot routine, jumping up on the table and purring for me. :mrgreen:

New this week in my cats' world: sleeping arrangements. After two years of medical drama, I'm finally well dancing_cat and able to move back in to the bedroom with DH. Prior to this, I slept on the couch because pain and healing incisions weren't compatible with DH's "sleep aerobics" lol! The bedroom is our house's only cat-free zone, and I'm surprised the cats aren't putting up more of a fuss. Up to this point they could sleep with me, but now they are on their own. I'm almost offended they're not more upset about this! ;-)

Good morning guys ... this yellow is a nice place to start out at .. plenty of time to come down to some blues and greens later on .. silly kitties .. I'm sure they were upset by you sleeping in your own bed, they just didn't want to show it! Have a great day guys ..

Wow two years - I'm glad you are healing and can say goodbye to the couch. What I would give for the bedroom to be Maverick free. He is so draining when I need sleep the most he talks to his imaginary friend and if I lock him out paws and paws at the door. Relentless. So in order for DH to sleep I go and sleep on a 4' love seat in the living room. Maverick's imaginary friend stays locked in the bedroom with DH and Maverick is content as long as I'm sleep deprived. Then he sleeps the day away.

I bet your kitties will realize you are gone - and miss you tons at night. Awesome that Chaos is such an easy kitty to get eating LC foods. He is looking good.

I'm working on my caffeine units ~O) ~O) ~O) I earned a dosecrease this week.

We're back at +3 with a nice blue 199. :mrgreen: Chaos has been incredibly lovey and playful today- we've already played "Laser Dot" and before that, a nice round of "making biscuits" on my Snuggie (yes, I am admitting I own one). He tried to sit on my lap just now but he's too big; part of him always hangs over the side. Pretty much non-stop purrs all morning- good kitty.

@Karrie- yup, two years...and it only took them three surgeries to get a diagnosis. Chaos and my civie were there with me all the way, sleepless nights and all. I think Maverick's imaginary friend stops over here now and then, because Chaos talks to him too- huge boisterous meows!

If the kitties miss me at night, they're showing it by being half-asleep and confused when I emerge in the AM. Such love! :lol:

We have our paws crossed- literally in Chaos's case at the moment- for a nice surf-y blue-green day.

I suspect once the kitties figure out what's up, there will be demands at the bedroom door. More blue, please, Chaos.

You wanted more blue, Sienne, and here it is! :mrgreen: Not as big of a drop as yesterday, nice blue numbers...we're doing good! He stole my spot on the couch so I just tested him there, and he didn't get up and move afterward this time. We are totally getting the hang of this.

And... I'm not the only one who loves their snuggie- yay!

your story reminds me of us several yrs ago when my DH fell off our roof breaking both wrists and his right side of his face he was in and out of medical sx's and stuff for a long time and needed the bed so I slept on the floor for about 2 yrs actually got very used to it now we have a king size bed and i still go sleep on the floor some nights seems to be more comfortable many times :lol: but anyway glad you are better and nice blue surfing for Chaos today :smile: :-D

OK now I'm really confused! His +12 is lower than I think he's been all day. I don't understand how this happens. I left the house between his +6 and +12 to attend a curling party and freeze my tuchas off, so I didn't get any readings in between. Sometimes a girl's got to be social and his numbers were high enough that I wasn't worried. (Besides,the Cleveland Plain Dealer was there to cover the party! "I'm somebody, I'm finally somebody!!!") SO I leave, and Chaos's numbers get weird on me. Will re-test in 15 and see if there's a trend. Haven't shot or fed yet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's had unusual sleeping arrangements. Spending my newlywed year on the couch was lame, but it's not as bad as the floor! Lisa, were there simply too many cats on the couch? ;-)

15 minutes later and I have 129. Going up, but not dramatically. Looks to me like he could have had a blue day straight through, which is awesome except that I'm so new at this I find it confusing. To shoot, or not to shoot, that is the question.

are you able to monitor tonight? Do you have plenty of test strips on hand, and high carb wet food on hand if needed?

Yes, yes, and yes. And I got 137 at 12.5. Seeing an upward trend here, but a slow one.

he's heading up steadily, and will probably continue to rise after he eats. You can shoot whenever you're comfortable. Get a +1 and +2 and that will give us a hint as to where the cycle is going.

Feeding and shooting. He's on a very low dose 0.25u, I'll make it a skinny 0.25u tonight. He hasn't had enough steady cycles at this dose to even out yet, I don't think.

Ta-da! Up to 196 at +1, so I think I made the right decision. He's playing and eating, but he always acts as if he feels just fine- that's my steady boy!

Chaos' pancreas is just LOVING low carbs huh! Awesome!!!! Remind me again what dose were you giving Chaos before the switch? He's doing great.

Two years for a diagnosis. Ouch ouch ouch. We'll be watching to see if kitties figure out where you've gone lol. Maverick's friend (Chatty Kathy) arrives at our house at 5AM most days.

I could not sleep on the floor. I did pump up an air matress but its even more uncomfortable than the 4 foot love seat.

Karrie, he was getting a whopping 2.5u. That's TEN TIMES the dose we're trying out now. His diet before the switch was royal canin diabetic dx with a little royal canin calorie control high protein canned food thrown in for treats. Obviously I had no idea what I was doing to him, I feel awful about it!

We could all use a little Stewart Smalley once in a while! :mrgreen:

Back with the +2 and it's 164. Not a sharp drop, but this is what you call onset, right? He ate around 1/4 of a 6 oz can Authority chicken when he got his shot, as usual.

Thanks, Sienne. You're right. The vet should know that feeding a sugar cat kibble is like giving a human diabetic donuts and expecting him to do fine using more and more insulin. What kills me is that it all made total sense to me, a non-vet. After reading a few articles and applying logic to what I know about carnivores, going all-wet LC was a no-brainer! I shouldn't feel guilty, I started doing the right thing as soon as I wised up, right?
 
Wow...look at him go! 164 at + 4, so I think I'll sleep well tonight..unless they finally realize I am missing from the living room!
