WCR: All is good with Blackie, thank goodness. This morning, gave her the usual amount of 40g, and after she about 8/10's of it, she walked away from it. I sprinkled a bit of Forti Flora on it, and she finished it off. Last night, she did the same thing. The 30g amount seems to do the trick, though, for the most part. There are times when I need to do the same thing with that amount, but not too often. It's even heated up for her for 8 seconds in the microwave so that it gets warmed up. I know she hates cold food, and may ate a few bites, then walk away.
Daisy Update: I was awaken (again) at around 4 this morning, and since I couldn't sleep anymore due to the human alarm clock, I got up, made coffee, tested Blackie at +10.5, then decided to medicate Daisy. Oral syringe feeding is not my forte. I was able to get it in her, but it's a struggle. Then, she got a small amount of Friskies Cheezy Craze treats as a reward. Then, she drank some water. 20 minutes later, in the bedroom, on my side of the bed she threw up. I noticed a hairball in the mix, but the medication (cod liver oil with the antibiotic... very smelly stuff) was also there, too. After a bit, she went back to get more water, and about 15 minutes later she threw that up, too. As soon as the vet's opened this morning, I called them to leave a message for the vet to call me back, hopefully today. Not sure what to do at this point.
2nd Daisy Update: Just got off the phone with the vet, and she told me to hold off on giving Daisy any more of the Doxycycline for a few days and see if she improves or not. If she doesn't, then I'm to re-administer the medication as before. Daisy did, after all, get a shot of Covenia last Thursday. I was told that if she didn't start showing some signs of improvement, then to get the Doxycycline, and start her on that. The vet asked me if the Covenia looked like it was working, and to which I told her I thought it was, hence the phone call on Saturday to them telling them that I wasn't going to pick up the Doxy. By Monday morning, Daisy was looking like she was turning for the worst again, hence the call back to them that morning telling them that I was going to pick up the Doxy. This morning, I was told that it would take about 24-48 hours after the Covenia shot was administered for it to start taking affect. I did ask the vet if she mixed it with cod liver oil, but she told me that it already came premixed.
At least for now, I won't have to get any more meds for her... Yet. I only pray that she'll continue to get better with the Covenia, and that I don't have to give her any more Doxy. I need prayers, please, for my little "darling-who-could-do-no-wrong" Daisy.
