Hi guys,

After not giving Merry a shot last night he was 12.2(220) this morning. I actually expected him to be a lot higher after missing a shot so I was glad to see that number. I gave him 4.25u & we'll see how today goes.

Merry's shenanigans from yesterday for those who missed it.

Thanks again to everyone for helping decide what to do last night at shot time :)

Hope you feel somewhat rested, Luanne, you were a trooper yesterday and the night before. I hope the reduction does the trick and Merry behaves for you today (and you get a nap somewhere). :bighug:

I slept well but not long enough. It's so cold out today I won't be going far & will sneak a nap in later :)

Just wanted to say Hi from a fellow Canadian! I'm in Ontario!
Love seeing all those greens on Merry's ss!

Hi Judy :) I'm in Ontario as well, around Belleville (West of Kingston). Those greens were great but not something I could keep up with unless I never want to leave the house or sleep, LOL! I'm hoping those low greens are a sign of more reductions to come!

I just ordered 4 boxes of 100 Freestyle Lite test strips from ebay for $200 :) Usually I pay $75 for 100 so that's a great deal, only $50 for 100 strips. The only concern I have is them being mailed in these frigid temperatures. Does anyone know if they will be ruined if they freeze? I didn't think of that until after I placed my order.

I went through sooooo many strips the last 3 cycles, they were expensive cycles!

Can you send link? It’s not as cold as it was. It’s the windchill that’s making it worse and that won’t affect the strips. I think you’ll be fine. I’m about to order from eBay too but the best deal I found was 100 strips for $59 (including shipping)

She doesn't have any others listed but I'll ask her if she has more to sell & will let you know.

For mid-Ohio, it's rather unseasonably cold. I lived in Minneapolis for several years. I thought the weather anywhere else in the US was for wimps! The temp in Mpls is closer to what you're experiencing. I think no matter where any of us live, it's cold!

Belleville

My DH is from the Belleville/Stirling area!

We went from -29 on Friday night going to be to -14 Saturday morning to 0 Saturday afternoon. So Central AB is seeing a bit of a warming trend for the next 3-4 days. More seasonal weather.

I see the Maritime regions is getting slammed though. This winter has been brutal all around.

I see you came back to green. :D That's a quick recovery Merry.

I suppose I shouldn't complain about the fog that rolled in for a couple hours this afternoon. And yes, it's above freezing here.

Merry was 4(72) at +10 :)

He came down really fast from his yellow start to the day, which is good, but now I'm a bit concerned about shooting tonight. It's one thing to be up all night on Friday night when I don't have to work the next day but I have to work tomorrow. Hopefully he's a bit higher at shot time which is in a little more than an hour.

I'm worried about giving Merry his insulin tonight. It was worrisome when he was in the lime greens & I had to constantly keep fighting to get him into safe #s & keep him there. Any dose advice, suggestions, etc?

Personally I just go with my gut. What do I feel safe dosing and then leaving him for work/sleep. I’m more on the conservative side and go for the big chicken shot but then I deal with the consequences of a possible high the next day. That’s what I did when Silver was originally going OTJ anyways.

I'm only about 10 mins from work so I can come home at lunch if needed & I have the option to work from home from time to time. I can probably get hubby to check him at +3 & then if I need to I can work from home in the afternoon. But going by today, he didn't drop until sometime after +3 and it was quite the drop.

Let's see if @Wendy&Neko is here

It's really hard to tell which direction he is going, he looks really flat +8 through +11.5 are all the same number, essentially.

You also might want to change the ? In your title to PMPS soon, what to shoot? or something like that in case Wendy isn't around.

What is Merry's usual onset and nadir? You might want to consider feeding him a bit of higher carb before onset if you don't think he will surf so he has a higher number to work from.

Sorry I wasn't on earlier. I hope Merry surfs for you tonight. With just a small reduction, you could still see some action tonight. But I hope he goes back to his usual surf after a green preshot.

I can't tell when his nadir is as it seems to vary quite a bit. Especially now with these greens & lime greens, it's happening a lot earlier than what I thought his nadir was. He's a tricky boy :)

Merry is feeling good and taking it all in stride. I took a couple cute videos of him playing today but I don't think we can upload videos here can we, so here's a photo instead!

Lol! What a beauty! Doesn't look like a trouble maker at all! But we know different don't we?!? :D:rolleyes::D

Merry is 6.7(121) at +3.
Weird, these are almost his exact numbers from last night after *not* giving him a shot.
I hope he'll be ok until +7 when I get up to check him. Maybe I'll try for +6.

Normally I'd encourage the 5 hours of sleep, but it seems like kitties all over are acting a bit wacky. Might be safer to get that +6. :bighug: sweet dreams even if short :bighug:

Merry was blue over night, so I only had to get up once to check him :)
He's blue again this morning at AMPS. I just hope he doesn't have a big drop like he did yesterday.
If this means he might be on his way to remission that's awesome, but it's also very stressful while it's happening.
Thanks again guys for being there :)
