Good shooting, Isil! Remember, we fight ketones w/insulin and calories. I know I sound like a broken record. So many experts here drilled this into me when Tawny was sick, now I guess it's my turn to return the "favor"! (Such that it is.)
The rule of thumb the experienced people here taught me is that a recovering DKA kitty needs 2.5 times her normal caloric intake during recovery. Tawny needed at least 300 calories per day during recovery, which was much more than the vets said to feed her incidentally. Karrie (Karrie & Maverick) created a great spreadsheet for Tawny to track her daily calorie intake when she was recovering. Karrie broke this down into grams for us so that I could calculate the amount of calories Tawny was getting via tube feeding as well as anytime she ate on her own or via assist (finger) feeding. Perhaps you can copy it and modify it for Tifil, here is the link:
Tawny Caloric Intake Chart (some data incomplete). Column B is where I entered the grams, column C calculated the calories, column G kept track of the totals, the tan is where I typed in notes.
Not all the data is accurate or complete, so don't pay attention to every page. Tawny is eating very well on her own now so the Feeding SS does not contain current data but if you look at the data for December 21st that is one day that I tracked it accurately. You should be able to copy it and modify it for Tifil. I have no idea how you would calculate the calories or amounts for the boiled turkey (try Google). Even tho I set the goal at 300 calories per day I tried to get more into her than that. She is now up to 11#s & counting! The first time she was in the hospital in November 2011 she was down under 9. Her ideal weight is about 12-13#s.
Once Tifil realizes coming out from under the bed does not mean going to the vet I'm sure she will come out! Great shooting at the low #s. I hope this bounce clears quickly and she starts eating more. You have done great!
