Yessss! That makes such good sense. He gets Pred (1.25mg) at 4:30 daily, which is 4 hours before PMPS. If that’s the case, the 4:30 Pred might keep him from going really low and too fast after PM shot, if that makes sense, as he already has a tendency to drop later on. Hmmmmmm.
 
I was giving Ruby pred once a day at AMPS when we started, then I started giving her the same amount broken into two doses at AMPS and PMPS. It definitely kept her floating higher during the AM cycle, but with time the effect of the pred on her numbers has become less noticeable on her numbers.

I would certainly give Pred to Eddie twice a day but he's taking it in tablet form (will not tolerate liquid) and the 1/4 of a 5mg tablet is already really small! I've called a compounding pharmacy here to see if they can make up capsules that would split the dose (1.25) in half. Pretty small capsules but I'll find out. It might make a difference in the long run...

I think it's worth looking into if you can get it compounded into a smaller dose. I get Ruby's 5 mg pred tablets from Chewy and they break easily in half. They can be cut into quarters with a pill cutter from the pharmacy but it would be more accurate if compounded.

Yes I’m using tablets now snd cut them into quarters but can’t get them any smaller without powdering them. I wish we had Chewy’s in Canada!
 
I get pred compounded into chicken flavoured chew treats, the compounding pharmacy makes them the strength I want. Currently on 2 mg tablets, and I cut in half with a pill cutter when I want to just give 1 mg. So easy for me, or the pet sitter, to give.

I'm waiting for the pharmacy to call me back. If only Eddie was getting a dose with a whole (or half) number. But given twice daily, the dose amounts to .625mg. I wonder what the pharmacy will say. Blue gets Pred in liquid form (easy peasy), 0.12ml/ once a day. He loves it, to tell the truth but Eddie abhors liquid medications.
What is the name of your pharmacy, Wendy?
 
Mine is Northmount Pharmacy. Check around for a compounding pharmacy that makes pet meds. They can make the treats with any amount of the prescription med in it. Not sure they ship though, as the compounded pred has to be kept cool.

I'll give him a little LC just to be safe. I think we're in the plateau of the 6.5u and action will be forthcoming, just not tonight. Does this sound reasonable?
