01/08 Gus AMPS 248, +6.5 207 PMPS 65, +1 56, +2 47, +3 54, +4 45, +5 70, +6 68, +8 95

I hope Gus keeps sliding down today.

He’s working on it :) not sure if his +6.5 is the lowest we’re getting for today but we’ll see. I’m curious how he’ll do with his reduction from the other night.

We’re still working on getting him back to his normal shot time so not sure if that creating a ‘fake’ increase and we won’t fully know what this reduction will do until he’s back to normal scheduling - guess time will tell.

What if we skip the blues and move to the greens?!? Had to run out today to get groceries and other errands. I couldn’t tests from +6 to now… always wish I could have been able to test when I see this so know which way he’s moving

Gonna be a long night

47 @ +2

Fed him some HC… should I test sooner than an hour?

Does this mean another reduction? Or how does that work so soon after a reduction?

What you feed depends how carb sensitive your cat is, and how early in the cycle. Insulin is stronger now, you got a way to go, plus it's a bounce breaking cycle so you've got some downward momentum going. I did syrup below 40, but I also found 17-18% carbs was good enough, ECID. Good job on the brakes. I'd record any extra carbs, amount and when, in the Remarks, so you can figure out what to do next time.

The larger depot lasts 4-6 cycles after a reduction. So there would only be remnants of the higher depot at this point. The bounce breaking cycle also contributes to the lows. You can always try the reduction and see how it goes.

I recorded what we did a few nights ago and I’m going to hop on the laptop (easier) now to do tonights. I think syrup under 40 and HC under 50 is something I’m going to start with - basically what we’ve been doing so far and it seems to be working

That’s true on the Depot… forgot about that in this situation. I was actually figuring he’d end up back to 3.75u in no time once the depot evened out with the new dose.

I love the idea of reductions (obviously) but I don’t want to go too fast either... guess we could try it and see if he still goes into the green and increase from there if not. Tomorrow AMPS will be the start of the 6th cycle at 3.5..

Now he's just being stubborn. I think he wants that reduction. Up now Gus, proved your point!

I gave him a drop of syrup with his HC at +4.

Something that stuck with me the other night when he hit a reduction point was ‘he doesn’t have anything more to prove’ and ‘carb him up’ … I hope I’m making good choices.

I do think I’ll start him on 3.25 tomorrow morning and if we need to go back up, so be it :)
