Freckles continues to do the teasing blue dance (just barely in the blues). I just want to go and give her a little push to show her it's not such a big deal to get down into the greens (but instead, I will put suspenders on my patient pants and pull them up a bit higher!

First time for trying out the Bayer Diastix. Freckles' glucose level was 28 mmol/l when she tested at 165 with the glucometer. Given that this number was in the middle of the colour chart, I'm thinking then that this is a moderate amount of glucose in her urine? If there is a sticky somewhere and you could direct me to find out more information about glucose in urine that would be great as I couldn't find the information and my "search" wasn't that helpful either.

We don’t really have much information in written form on the board on glycosuria (glucose in urine). However, we do know that there is a certain BG, specific to the cat, where the amount of sugar in the blood exceeds the renal threshold and it dumps it into the urine. This level is approximately and generally at about 250 mg/dL on lab equipment. However, we’ve had members test their cats to see where their specific renal threshold is and some cats show it at 160 mg/dL on a human meter. It can be hard to pinpoint because there is always a delay in when the BG spikes in the blood and when you see it spill into urine.

I hope that helps some.
