Good morning!
Boomer called me at 5:30; he wanted his breakfast. He doesn't touch the food I leave down for him at night.
I weighed him this morning and he's 18 lbs....normal weight is around 16.8. The difference is the cancer and fluid :(:(:(
Dr Larry's recommendation is to go with the abdominocentesis. I've asked whether the fluid can be sent away for testing but haven't got a response yet.
He also sent me an article on Furosemide (used to be marketed under the name lasix, now salix); in the article it mentions that it's not recommended for diabetics because it's associated with an increase in blood sugar levels.

I'm continuing to give bupre. every 12 hours. He gets cerenia then mirtz (an hour later) every 48 hours or more often if needed. Vitamin B12 once a week. And I try to get clearlax into him each day.

He's eating ok....lots of small meals. He drinks which is something he hasn't done since right before his FD dx. I'm assuming one of the meds makes him thirsty. He cuddled with me for a short while last night and cuddled with DH this morning after I got up. And he spends a good portion of each evening sitting on the couch in-between us.

Thank you to everyone for your comments, vines, prayers, recommendations, and support! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

We have scheduled the abdominocentesis for Wednesday morning.
They will do an X-ray first to confirm the bumps are fluid and not something else.
The can test the fluid; it's a bit pricey so I'll have to spend the next couple of days convincing DH we should have it done:rolleyes:

Many heart diabetic kitties get Lasix, as did Neko, Doodles, plus others. It didn't impact Neko’s BG. She took a liquid form. I seemed to remember Karen found injections of Lasix did impact BG, but pills didn’t.

I had the fluid tested from Theo - results were inconclusive.:banghead:

Judy, there is just too much going on here for me to keep up on. I remember Boomer's OTJ but the cancer doesn't ring a bell at all. I'm so sorry.
Wishing you the best, Cynthia and Dickson.

Well I got a look at my boy's bum today and :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
So with DH's help Boomer had a bum cleaning since he can't reach it himself right now. I got most of it. Boomer is not impressed:rolleyes:
Dr Larry will be shaving Boomer's belly for the procedure on Wednesday so I'll ask him to clip down there as well.

That's quite a bit of money to drop to find out absolutely nothing
It wasn't completely nothing. The analysis of fluid told me it was most likely from cancer, not from heart failure. We had already seen a mass on the pancreas, so the results just didn't tell us anything about the type of cancer. In other words, it didn't change the course of action. ECID. I think Dr. Larry can guide you on that decision.
