Must say lev seems to agree with her. Yes some kitties always bounce. Hopefully one day they don't bounce so high or for long. And they just sort of have a speed bump in the road.

Is there something I can do to minimize the bouncing? She does not feel well when this happens. Also, she is upset with me keeping the dry food away. I am doing this only because I need to see Levemir in action. Then I will give her back her beloved patties :)
 
Nice to see Chanel back in blue. Each cat is different with bouncing. Just finding the right dose will help flatten her out. If you can catch a drop and feed to slow it down, that may keep her from bouncing so high.

Patties should not have an effect, they are low carb. Some cats just bounce, look at Luci she just loves those yellows at shot time.

No pinball or a bounce today, just not onset yet. Numbers usually go up until onset, as that is when the new shot starts to take effect and the previous injection is wearing off. Typical onset is +4 with Levemir. You will often see numbers go up until onset, unless you are getting some really great overlap.

In general, bounces will get lower and less frequent the more time she spends on normal numbers. It is too early to say if 1.0 units is that dose. The Lantus depot is draining as the Levemir depot builds. Have patience.

I will give her back her beloved patties. I was just keeping them off while trying again the pate food. Since she had a bad reaction while eating the Fancy Feast pate, I wanted to make the pate I got was not doing the same to her. And I will leave her the dry food because today I left only wet food for her and she did not touch it. If the secret of not bouncing too much is to eat somewhat regularly, then my current choice is to leave the LC dry food out day and night hoping she can flatten out the BG values.
Question: is it a better idea to give her LC food when she is going too deep (from pink to blue, like she did yesterday) and try to get her in a better place (maybe yellow? although when on yellow, she does not feel great).
Where can I read more about bouncing and what to do to minimize it, if anything can be done diet-wise?

Oh OK, so the onset of Levemir is later than Lantus then. I had a feeling looking at the values, but I kept telling myself that maybe Levemir is still building and Lantus is getting lazy in being onset.

I will try Carla. I have to say it was nice to see her sailing the BLUES :). But let's be honest, 1U might be not enough for her to stay in BLUES and maybe hit the GREENS. I will try and give her LC to slow down bouncing, thank you for letting me know.
 
Also just being in numbers they are not use to can create a bounce. If there is a big drop early in the cycle try to slow it down using lc food. There is no magic way to prevent it.

You are right, I can see she is not herself first time when she achieve a new level. When she had the first blue, she was all splashed and not moving. Now she is feeling better in blues, still not liking the yellows.
Also, she is still upset that the 40% carb dry food is not around. She will come to get used to the patties and forget completely about other dry food, in time.
How do you address the red gums? I know we need to do dental cleaning but she had one 2 months ago and I wonder if actually there is a way to calm down the gums with something (brushing obviously makes everything worse, so I try to do it with a Q-tip and warm water). Is there anything I can put on her gums to get her some relief and give a chance to the gums to heal properly?

That I don't know. Has there been a follow up visit with the place the dental was done? Is it possible something was missed?

It is the former vet, so no chance of going back there. Hopefully, on Tuesday's vet appointment we may find out something although I doubt it since the appointment is made for ultrasound with internal medicine.
I have to say that unless specific reason to go to the vet, I would encourage the multidisciplinary team approach. There is less stress in going into one visit when complete panels can be done instead going for 2-3 separate visits where everybody is getting a blood panel. Besides, it would be an opportunity for the doctors to communicate with each other and the owner for a better health decision planning.

I agree with you. Olives vet only addresses the issue you are going for.

My other vet no matter the reason you go does a head to tail exam. Clean the ears, clips the nails at no charge.
