Hi everyone, her +3 is 68, when do you suggest I retest? I really would rather not every 1/2 hour (she's getting so testy, her ears hurt) but obviously will if that's what should be done, and I really don't know as the 3s are so new to us. Thanks so much, with love

You could try at +3. That's a biggish drop from AMPS. You could give a small snack of her regular low carb food to steer her BG. Maybe do that now and see where she is at +3. Try only a teaspoon or two.

Sorry @Kris & Teasel , that was her +3. ?
AMPS 6.3
+3 3.8

eta I didn't think that was horrible, and thought maybe a +4. What do you think?
eta#2 also I retested the amps at 6.1 after because it seemed high after last night

I agree with Kris with the food then test at +4 (not +3). Willow does drop then surf.
Thank you both :) I apologize, I'm foggy this morning lol. Willow was fed after that test,a usual meal.
Her morning feed schedule is 1/4 can after 8 (ish) test, then 1/8 can at +1 and +2 (after any tests), 1/4 can at +3, and 1/8 can at +4 and +6. That may be why she surfs so nicely I guess, the frequent small meals?
So I will just retest at +4 I guess?

Hello again, up from 68 to 76 at +4, and had 1/8 can LC FF as usual. Thinking of waiting until +6 for the next test, she's due for another 1/8 can then as well, unless someone suggests otherwise? I'm getting a bit more confident (believe it or not lol) but don't want to get complacent.
Thank you all, with love, Nikki

Hello again. She surfed prettily, but headed up at the end for some reason. Oh well, we'll see how tonight goes. Will you be around tonight? With love
Yes I’ll be around tonight. We are due storms so if I’m not you will know I have lost internet connection but hopefully not. 6.3 is still beautiful AMPS.!!!!

Willow has a nice looking SS - way to go Willow! I'm going to show Luci - see how it looks! No yellows or those other colors...only nice cool blues and greens :)

lol Luci is a tease it seems.
You poke as much as I do! Can I ask if you use the pen or go freehand? Willow's ears are really bothering her, and she's got bumps along the edge of one ear. I just started the polysporin with painkiller yesterday.

I go freehand. I really couldn't see anything with the pen - I use a baby sock filled with rice -and I warm it in the microwave - it's about the size of a fat golf ball - place that under her earflap and then do the poke in that little sweet spot. Occasionally I run into a little scar from one of the previous thousand pokes she's gotten. That warm rice ball sock thingy has really helped me - not to stab my fingers, supports her ear flap and makes it easier to see what I'm doing. Luci doesn't seem to mind it at all...I always use Neosporin antibiotic ointment after the poke (she likes it!) I use the store brands to save $$.

It's taken her a while, but she gets up on the counter with the testing towel, etc. all by herself now. I just whistle for her and she comes and gets on the counter - oh how far we've come from those early days of resistance. I should have told her 'resistance is futile'...but instead I told her that her life depended on her cooperation. I think she heard me :p

Thanks! I don't need a rice ball, but I did learn to fold up a gauze square which supports and definitely helps with the not stabbing finger lol. I used the pen up to a night or so ago...I think the pressure you need for it pressed against her frequently pricked, tender ears caused some pain/bruising. So I've been free handing and it seems to be going a bit better. She currently doesn't like anything being done to ears, and I really can't blame her! But she's such a good girl :)
