yesterday

Radar has retreated under the bed after being pilled twice and then tested and shot. He did eat a little breakfast and got his probiotic so I'm hoping the messy LB situation will improve.

I was happy to see his numbers steadily dropping yesterday and we even saw some blues late last night  Of course now it looks like he's bouncing so I may have to wait a while before I can clearly see what the insulin is doing. I go back to school on Monday so I won't be able to stay up late and test all day like I have been for the past two weeks. sigh :(

:bighug::bighug: Jan. Murphy's bowels always act up after a dental - either diarrhea or constipation. Radar is probably hating the flagyl
Radar was too drugged with the Gabapentin to have much to say about the Flagyl. Poor little boy. He doesn't prefer the pilling process at all, but I put the two antibiotics in a gel cap this morning when I gave them so he didn't have any icky taste. He hasn't eaten very much today so I just gave him the first dose of Mirtazapine in the form of a transdermal gel. The vet's office gave me a nifty covering for my finger and I just rubbed it in his ear. It took a little longer to work than the crumbs of Mirtazapine I've been giving him, but he's back in the eating club and that's what really matters.

I'm wondering if the transdermal mirtazapine generally has a more gentle impact than the tablet.... Does anyone have any experience? observations? thoughts?

Today was his first dose and my observation is that he has gradually over the last few hours become more interested in eating. This is in contrast to the tablet which we've been using daily for about 6 months. The tablet compels him to the food dish in about 20 minutes and he has just a bit of an eating frenzy mentality. The frenzy doesn't last longer than a few hours and then he just eats.

My other question for those who've used this form of Mirtazapine... Do you dose every day or every other day? My vet told me to do it every other day but the directions from the manufacturer say it's a daily dose. So I'm feeling a bit unsure. I have an appointment with the vet on Monday so I'll certainly ask her to explain. I'm curious and interested in what other users have been told or done... ??

I'm interested in what others say about this. Murphy had a bad reaction to mirt pill, so I've been using cyproheptadine, which can cause him to eat huge amounts. If the transdermal form is more gentle (I think I've read that it is) I may try to switch to that
