01/04 LANDO AMPS 114; +2 89; PMPS 142

Thank you @carfurby (GA) and @tiffmaxee - i have to accept that this is his cycle. His “good eating” never lasts more than a few weeks. I am going to syringe feed while i think about what to do:
-Try another cycle of miritaz ( worked well around thanksgiving)
-Have another “fight” with the vet to try to get ondesteron
-Bring lando in to the vet ( he howls and puffs up, which im trying to avoid unless necessary)
- try another round of buy and throw away new food

or a combo of all of them! Ha

You know my vote is for ondansetron as always. Makes no sense to give mirtaz without addressing nausea. It can make him refuse the food when he feels better. I thought your vet was willing to try ondansetron if the appetite stimulant didn’t work. ;)

So the good news is that the office manager asked the doctor for me, so i got the RX script! I pick it up tomorrow to be filled. on another strange note…. After the two syringe feedings i did today, lando came looking for food a half hr later. Does anyone know if there is some sort of “prime the pump” appetite thing going on with pancreatitis cats?

Poor Lando, hope the ondansetron helps give him back his appetite!

I have definitely noticed this in my pancreatitis and IBD cats... sometimes if they don't eat for a while because they don't feel good, they seem to almost "forget" that they like food. A friend who rescues street kittens taught me early on to either smudge food on their nose to force them to lick it off or syringe/hand feed them a small amount to remind them that food is tasty, and it has worked almost every time! Maybe Lando feels worse with an empty stomach and your syringe feedings helped his tummy feel better too?

Thank you Virginie and hello!! This seems to maybe be the case with him. Maybe with the ondesteron it will be a doubld win - im also trying not to seem stressed so that mealtime doest = stress time for him

I was lucky enough to be able to fill the rx on my lunch break! I am hoping to start lando tonight or tomorrow with ondesteron. @tiffmaxee can you give me a crash course? My questions:
For a 17.2 lb cat, is it a whole pill, half pill, or does the mg get more specific
Can i dose 1x a day?
Is before bdtime ok? Or should i change to am?

my plan would be 1/2 tablet ( =2 mg) at night after last meal in ADDITION to the cerenia 1/2 tab

I would start with about every 12 hours for a couple days and if not enough improvement then every 8 hours. Give 2 mg to start each dose.

Where did you buy it? You got the genetic? It used to gr really cheap at Costco and many online pharmacies.

I got ondesteron, i filled it at rite aid ( walkung distance from my house) they gave me a discount and if that sticks it will be ok. If it does not stick the pills are about 4 dollats a pill. I did not realize there were other options, but would love to hear if i need to get the supply elsewhere. I do not have a costco membership

Omg i had no idea. I thought it would be easiest to get it nearby. They gave me a discount so that it was 1.15 a pill. If that discount doesnt stick, ill transfer the rx ( i saw on the internet that you can do that). I obviously am not skilled at navigating perscription drugs ( which i guess is lucky)

When Tiff got sick the oncologist gave me just a few pills each time and the price was crazy. I thought they were $10 a pill. Then my online friends explained how it worked. The dispensing fee was the same for a few or a lot. . I started looking online and buying in bulk.

I would have no money left over and Lando Might not have survived if it wasnt for you and this forum i SWEAR! HAHA. I guess my parents will be grateful that i learned how to navigate so much medical stuff with lando when they need me to care for them. THANK YOU again for sharing your experience
