@Wendy&Neko I just want the Levemir to work better. Even today she was not happy and it seems that the left side is more sensitive than the right side, even if I change places all the time (right side in the morning and left side in the evening.
However, I was calculating the calories and her intake in wet food was horrendously low and maybe that is reason enough for her to go for the dry food since that was higher in calories. As a result, last night I switched from the Fancy Feast to Tiki Cat broths that are better on calorie:weight ratio and as a result, she did not go for the dry food last night. Instead she slept belly up:cat:
This morning however, she was hungry at 5.30 am. It is a long time since she actually showed hunger, I guess that eating the Fancy Feast got her bored and not looking forward to her meal times. Not that she did not want her soup in the morning along with her Tiki Cat Mousse.
At least it is an improvement. From approx 30 g of Fancy Feast (~26 cal) every morning, this morning she ate 69 cal. I tempted her with the dry food and she turned her head, of course she might eat later. But I put some mouse mixed with Fancy Feast meat and water, who knows, maybe she will be tempted.
Tonight we start the Levemir:nailbiting:

Good luck with the transition to Lev. I hope it works better for Chanel.

I have to offer Luci a variety of FF's - I search far and wide for all the different flavors of pate' so she has a nice variety. She didn't like Tiki but does seem to enjoy a can of Tiny Tiger now and then. She hated Weurva - I thought she loved it - because I picked up one or two pouches...then ordered a case and she wouldn't touch it...she seems to get tired of the same food almost immediately...I also keep a variety of freezed dried foods in the cupboard to sprinkle over her wet food to get her started; I have freeze dried tuna flakes, salmon, chicken, lamb and rabbit; all of which I can crush/crumble over her food...seems like that helps - sometimes I use Fortiflora - she seems really interested in that as well.

Just suggestions you might want to try as far as sprinkles to make the wet food more appealing.

Have a wonderful day :)

LOL, she has an entire restaurant menu :). I am on my way of doing the same, but I will try again the pate since it seems to be dense enough in terms of calories/weight. I will start small, with chicken and turkey, to make sure she is doing ok tummy-wise. Then, I can try and expand to beef and lamb. I ordered some freeze-dried entrees patties from Vital Essentials because she seems to like the soft texture that does not challenge her gums too much.
I tried Fortiflora but she does not like it, my guess is that because it contains pork (without a test I cannot be sure of my assessment).
All in all, I think if I can get her to eat 180 calories a day, it may help improve her activity level and get her to be not so interested in the dry food. But for that, I probably need to do like you. Keep her interested by offering an interesting menu :)

Good luck with the Lev tonight.
I will keep my fingers and toes crossed :)
She is in the closet now, not sure if it is just to rest or she is still feeling weak from the aggressive diet I put her through. I hope that Levemir will be even better than Lantus for her. After all, Lantus did a good job in getting her in decent values (the blue ones I think are not to be considered since her caloric intake was very low.

That +2 is still from the Lantus depot, which will take a few cycles to wear off.

How did Chanel react to the Lev shot?

Some one correct me if I wrong. This is the calculation to use for calories needed per day.

(13.6 x ideal weight) + 70 = the number of calories needed per day..

So for Ollie to maintain 12 pounds she needs 233.2 calories per day. At the time I figured it that came to 2.6 cans (3 oz) a day. Now there are times she doesn't eat that and times she wants more. Different foods have different calories. When needing to be boosted she gets more. But I am careful because I don't want her to gain over 13 lbs. Acro cats can be super hungry.

Did she twitch, growl, hiss, try to back away from the shot?
Not today. I think she was thankful for eating more than usual. I cannot believe I was starving her in the name of health :(. Anyway, she did nothing at the time of the shot. It would be great to stay like that and not having difficulties in brushing her. Although she does not compare to Her Royal Fluffiness, Princess Olive :bighug:

I saw that formula too in Dr. Lisa Pierson's website. I also calculated the same amount for Chanel but I am not able to get her to eat that much in canned food. Until now she ate only 130 and that means she needs to eat at night to cover for the rest. What food do you use Paula that is so dense in nutrients?

All different stuff. Her fav is Fancy Feast Beef. Other is Fancy Feast chicken, medley primavera white chicken. Store brand Paws chicken they love. New ones I'm trying Proplan focus urine health, I and Love and You Beef (haven't tried it yet). New Mittens Morsels (Pet Supply Plus Brand).

None of mine tolerate shredded, minced, chopped. So it's pate only.

they are also fed every 3 hrs around the clock. Sometimes Ollie eats non stop first 3 hrs of shot. Husband also feeds when he's not suppose to. From +4 on Ollie only gets 1/8 or less for +9. 1/8 can +6.

Let her eat. Right now she is not metabolizing properly. More frequent smaller meals are better.

Ollie gets 1/2 (3 oz can) at shot times. Sometimes she eats it all sometimes not. Next 3 hrs she gets 1/4 can an/pm. Then 1/8 can +6 and +9 am/pm. Lately she isn't eating +9. Husbands gives her some inbetween when I'm not home.
