Moonie is so sweet that her sweetness must be leaking into her bloodstream. She has this little wand toy that she carries around in her mouth as a communication device. Whenever she wants love, she holds it in her mouth and meows loudly until she gets pets.

She was doing that a lot last night, so I hope that means she was feeling good even if her numbers were a bit high.

If her PM cycle continues to look like this, I’ll be asking someone experienced for a dose review. The only thing is that my partner’s parents are in town this weekend, so Saturday we may not be able to monitor as closely as we normally do. So maybe it might make sense to hold off until Sunday. But I do hate seeing stinky pinkys to start off my day.

Happy Thursday everyone!

This is Moonie with her communication device 🥰

That is one of the cutest things I’ve ever heard, a “communication device” 🥹 she is so precious. I'm glad she's still doing well even if her numbers were a bit higher. Give her lots of pets from me too please.

I hope she comes down out of that stinky pink soon🤞

Khloe does the exact same thing!! But with the dog’s toys, specifically this flat duck toy (we named it Fleefer lol). I always thought it was separation anxiety. Funny how similar these two kitties are!

Have a great day Connie and Stinky Pinkies Begone!!

Omg too cute!! It's very nice of your dog to share his toy with Khloe :)

Hope you have an amazing day too! Paws crossed both kitties show us some good numbers soon 🐾

My kitty Ginger had that exact same toy and it was her favorite too. She would carry (drag) it around and bring it to bed all the while meowing with it in her mouth.

That is so sweet!! It’s so fun to hear that there are other kitties who do this :)

This wand toy was the only thing that came with Moonie when we got her from the shelter, and I remember being confused that she wouldn’t want to play with it. Until we discovered this was not a toy but a communication device :)

I was wondering if someone experienced could offer some advice on whether we should go up by 0.25u to 3.5u tomorrow morning?

Also am I doing anything wrong? I feel like Moonie hasn’t been able to break her bounces recently, and we haven’t seen a green in over 10 days. Did I mess up by letting her get to 68 on 6/15 pm? Should I have intervened way sooner and gotten +1 to slow the drop, because maybe that’s what’s been causing this prolonged bounce?

We’ve now been on 3.25u for 8 cycles and have yet to see any greens. Mostly we’ve been living in yellow / pinks.

Am I being too impatient? Should I be giving this dose a couple more cycles?

The other thing to note is that my partner’s parents are coming tomorrow. So it’ll be harder for us to monitor tomorrow evening through Saturday evening. Though honestly I’m desperate to see good numbers for Moonie and if I need to make it up to them later, I will. So technically we could also increase Sunday am and give it another 4 cycles, if I wanted to avoid any relationship friction.

Sorry for the many questions. I know most of this stuff is probably just part of the FD process and I’m being overly anxious.

Thank you so much in advance for any advice or thoughts you could share!!

I just hate it when you raise the dose and get some pretty good numbers and then they all go back up. Do you think she could be bouncing? More experienced people here might be able to tell. The lowest she got was 108, but Karamelle is really sensitive to lower numbers and can bounce on low blues. Not giving advice, but if you cant monitor till Sunday, maybe waiting might be a good idea.

Thanks Jo! I do think she’s still bouncing - I guess I just don’t know how long I should be waiting for the bounce to break? On one hand I do want to be patient. On the other, I worry that I’m just contributing to the glucose toxicity if I let her do 4-8 cycles on pinks and yellows after one stretch (maybe 4-5 hours) of blues.

I probably should be waiting until Sunday morning, but I guess I’m just debating whether to let my partner down a little (and skip a dinner) if it means getting Moonie better numbers earlier. I know it’s a little crazy but I guess I’m just desperate 😂

With TR, you hold a dose with blue nadirs for 6-10 cycles. With low blues and Neko, I held the 10 cycles. So that would mean one more day as she did see some low 100's. That "one more day" would also take you 6 cycles past her last blues, to see where her nadirs are when she breaks the bounce. Unfortunately, that could mean an increase on Saturday. Or Saturday night.

Has anyone ever told you the phrase - Lantus teaches. you patience. 🤣

Thank you so much! Lantus really is trying to teach me the patience I never learned in all my life 😂😂😂

Got to go back and put back on the patience pants I balled up and threw in the corner 😂

This is really helpful - so thank you again!!! I just wasn’t sure how to walk the balance between giving the depot time to work vs. keeping her in high numbers too long, especially as I felt that I’d held her prior dose too long.

With TR, doses with blues are held for 6-10 cycles. She gave you some low blues for a few cycles, which would warrant holding for 10 cycles total. She looks to be in the midst of a bounce. I’d let her work through 10 cycles first, in case she breaks the bounce and go from there if nothing special after 10 cycles.

Thank you so much! I will hold for 10 cycles before re-evaluating. That’s probably better for my relationship anyway vs. trying to find excuses to skip dinner so I can keep pricking my cat’s ear while anxiously hovering over her with cans of LC / MC / HC food 😂

Well there you go, win-win :p. I always used to say, excuse me, I need to go and poke my cat lol. And you are welcome, similar thought as Wendy, but she has a way of explaining ;)

Connie, I'm curious: she was diagnosed in 2024. Did she go into remission? Or were you just treating her and not on the FDMB forum?
Moonie girl...we like that you seem to be breaking that bounce, precious. Come on back down; the water is fine.

Unfortunately I didn’t meet Moonie soon enough - I only adopted her earlier this year. This is probably more backstory than you were asking for, but it’s a big part of why I’m so eager to get her regulated.

Moonie spent most of her life with an older woman who clearly loved her, but many of her medical needs were missed. She was 6 before she ever saw a vet and she still wasn’t spayed at that point. Then in 2024, her person became very ill and had to go into a nursing home. Moonie entered the shelter and was adopted by a kind man.

She was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after that. Honestly I think the stress of losing the only home she knew was probably the last straw. I think he loved her, but her diabetes became overwhelming financially and emotionally. She spent that whole year unregulated before being returned to the shelter.

I learned later that she didn’t really eat anything for three days after she was returned a second time in just a year. It’s heartbreaking because now I know how food obsessed she is. I found her in January this year, a few months after she was returned.

But somehow through all of this, her body and heart stayed resilient. Other than the diabetes, she’s healthy. And after everything, she still trusts me to poke her ear and keep her safe.

I guess that’s why I’m so obsessed with getting her regulated.

Sorry for the long story! I just love talking abut Moonie 😂

Aw, what a story! You are absolutely my hero (and Moonie's) for adopting her!!! Moonie, knowing your backstory makes all of us invested in seeing you get into regulation. We're pulling for you, little one!!

Aww thank you! Moonie is my hero too! She’s taught me so much. She’s so resilient and brave - and seeing how she’s not afraid to love or feel joy after so much loss and adversity inspires me to do the same.

Your kind words and encouragement mean the world to us so thank you! This is the best part of being here - having everyone invested in the health and happiness of every kitty here 🥰
