Good evening to this wonderful group of people! :cat:
Me and Chnoudi are old members, it's just been a long time since I've posted a question here.
Chnoudi has been diabetic since 2019, as you can see, with a short break of remission. We've received a lot of help from all of you in the past. I'll never forget it ❤️ She is doing very well, she is regulated, I try to follow TR.

I test her everyday, but with the difficulties of everyday life I don't always enter the numbers in the spreadsheet. I have a newborn in the house and my daily routine is tough. I'm sure I often make many mistakes with her dose increases and decreases but ok... She's fine, her fructosamime is 200μmol/L.

Two months ago Chnoudi was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. The pill (methimazole) caused her hepatotoxicity, so the only solution is to search for a clinic for treatment with radioactive iodine (i-131) In Athens, where we leave, there is only one vet specialized in hyperthyroidism.
Saturday 5/9 Chnoudi will be admitted to the clinic. We put her with a freestyle libre 2 plus sensor, because the vet won't be able to test her. However, the numbers are different from the ones the ear measurement shows and that freaks me a lot!! Libre shows higher.

I would really appreciate your help. Which dose should I tell the vet to give her??? She's not specialized in diabetes. I don't want to risk hypos. I'm really scared. I don't know how often she'll check the sencor and Chnoudi will be alone at nights. She'll be in the clinic for 4-5 days. Wouldn't it be better to give her a lower vacation dose? 0.5u?? 0.25u?? I don't know...
Today I reduced... I don't know why, but I'm afraid as the day gets closer..

Thank you so much in advance! 🥰🥹

Hi Melita, does the Libre 2 sensor in Greece send the information to your personal phone? (You can check with Abbott if you’re not sure or look at their website).

Can you link the Libre app through Libre Linkup app so you receive the data on your personal phone and can follow as she is at the clinic?

I would think you may want a slightly reduced “vacation dose” as they call it around here.
I will let more expert members give advice on your dose.
How long will she be at the clinic for her, I131 treatment?

Here is information on using a Libre that we have put together. It may answer some of your questions.

Wishing you both good luck and hope the treatment goes very smoothly 🍀😻💕

I don’t have much advice to offer, and sorry about the new diagnosis. One question I’d have is how much access will she have to food while she’s there? Hopefully they can feed on a similar schedule to what she’s used to to help keep her BG steady.

Nice to see you got some good help here back in 2020 as well. You’ll probably see some familiar names still here.

Hi Melita! I also don't have much advice to offer, but I know someone on the forum with more experience/knowledge will pop in soon. Question: are the numbers in the spreadsheet from the Libre or handheld? Tim's question is a good one--I wonder...if they cannot feed on a regular schedule can you get an automated feeder for her.

Hello! Thanks for the reply! 😺
These numbers are handheld.. Libre shows always higher. Approximately 20 numbers higher. Yes, automatic feeder could be an option, but I'm not totally sure if the vet will go through this process... I'll have to discuss it with her.

Hello! Thanks for the reply! 😺 I don't know how often the vet will feed her. I'll try to tell her that she has to do it every 3 hrs..But at night everything will be more difficult, as Chnoudi will be alone. The vet doesn't have staff at nights.

Thank you so much for the reply and all these information!
Chnoudi will stay there 3-5 days. It depends on the amount of iodine will receive.
We will put her a new libre censor as the one she has now is linked with my phone. (I didn't know that there can be only a main device so we'll have to put a new one) The new one will be linked with the vet's phone and I will receive the numbers through this app. I hope it works. 😟
