George is doing well, hes eating and drinking, but im still worried about ketones. I havent caught him using the litter box yet, so im waiting on that for him

He was very cozy under the blanket this morning

Have you used the keto sticks urine strips yet? How is that working out for you?

I havent gotten him to use the litterbox yet, so im still waiting on him to pee. Hes been doing so well and I hope he doesn't have ketones

Im calling ABBOT for a replacement. Its no longer sending data. Ive tried rescanning but havent gotten any response from the sensor. I didnt tell them it was for a cat though since I wasnt sure if that would effect it

Don’t tell them it’s for a cat. You can just say George is a human! He has the perfect name!
They won’t give any support or replace a sensor if you say it’s for a cat!

I was able to get them to send me a replacement just in case this sensor goes cattywampus. Im glad I trusted my gut and didnt say it was for a cat! 😆
 
Hey Zach, I apologize, I haven’t been following as close the last few days. Is the CGM a new experiment? Just wondering how I can tell what numbers are from what in the spreadsheet.

Have you thought about a blood ketone meter? Felt more reliable for me rather than trying to catch a litter box trip.

CGM is new, just testing out how George would react to it + how i like it before I go back to work. The numbers on the spreadsheet are from his glucometer since i know thats more accurate than the CGM

I was looking at blood ketone meters and I wanted an opinion on one brand; nova max plus
 
Never used that one personally, but I think it looks fine. Suzanne from the ProZinc area has mentioned it a few times in her posts as the one she uses. We had the KetoBM. They’re all probably fine, then just cost of strips. But the last time I looked I think I concluded the ketone strips are all expensive and it just is what it is.

Again, I really wouldn’t spend the money u less what is worrying you is you can’t get urine. Usually with my kitties, as long as they haven’t just peed, if I put them in the litter box, they’ll pee.

I’m really happy to see him with more green and a bit lower PSs. He sure is carb sensitive. If he’s in the 70s and dropping early in the cycle, try a couple tsps of LC and test 30 mins later so we can see if the LC will just level him out but not shorten his duration. What do you think?

In this new cycle tonight? I can do that easily, hes still happily eating when I give him his food, im just worried I wont be able to catch him peeing. I put him in the litter box myself multiple times last night and even massaged his belly to try and stimulate his bladder but he wouldnt give me anything, I also kept leaving the room whenever he left the room so that I could catch him peeing and he never did, so im just worried hes pee shy. If thats the case I think the ketone meter might be worth it unless I can wait until the 12th to get his bloodwork done and ask for a blood ketone test

You don’t have to try the food experiment tonight. Just next time he’s headed down whenever you feel comfortable. The MC really popped him up today so it slowed his duration. But I can understand if he drops tonight and you don’t want to be up all night feeding LC when a little MC will push him up.

Just ordered the KetoBM and strips to monitor any ketones if they arise. I really hope not 😥. He was at 117 at +2, so i dont think hes going to crash. Ill get a +4 just to be sure

Yes the sensor just stopped.
You can ask Abbott for a replacement. Keep it in case they want it back.
Sorry it shut down, such a number 😢
