Hi everyone❤️ Mister’s dose was upped to 3u this morning (no fur shot this time, yay!) and he’s doing good so far. I love to see him in his catio when I wake up, watching the birds, running down the hallway, doing things he’s always done before I started noticing behavioral changes followed by his diagnosis. I was worried about seeing a black number this morning from the missed shot but I think he must have got a little bit of the insulin in him.

He was extra hungry this morning so he ended up eating more than usual (his normal can of FF at shot time, and then around an hour later he surprised me by finishing almost another one) I let him eat, I don’t want to go overboard but I know he also needs the calories.

I’m going to freehand the lancet on his next test. I wanted to make sure I got a good reading on his +2 so I didn't try yet, I didn’t want to stress him out and have to wait. If I somehow fail the first time, I’ll get a +5.5 or +6 and keep trying. The sticky’s and advice I’ve found have been helpful. I also made another rice sock. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been rotating where I poke him or if the Ledum 30c is working already, but his ear is no longer red and warm so that’s good.

I’ll check in later with a ketone test update. I hope everyone has a blessed Monday.

Good luck with the increase!
Happy to hear he's active and bird watching in his catio. Must be so cute. Please send photos!

Also as a side note, just because you had a fur shot last night you might not see increase in his numbers right away (or at all). Lantus is a depot insulin so he still has it in his system so you might see higher numbers in a day or two (or like I mentioned not at all). Hope that makes sense.

Happy Meownday

Excellent report for today and I’m really thrilled he’s being like the Mister you know. Also glad to hear his ear looks better.

Now let’s hope the new dose starts bringing the BG down. I know you have a lot to read but be aware a dose increase can temporarily cause a rise in the BG. We call this New Dose Wonkiness.

So glad to see things are going well today. And happy to hear Mister is enjoying his catio 😻
Remember to take a deep breath before you start to poke his ear. I find that helps me to focus and try to get rid of some nervous energy of my own.

Have a good day and safe surfing Mister 🌊🏄‍♂️🐈‍⬛

It does make sense! I didn’t think about it showing up later because of the depot. Thank you! Same to you💕

I read about NDW in the past couple days and I’ve had that in mind today! Such a strange phenomenon. Our bodies have such fascinating ways of trying to protect themselves, felines and humans both. Also makes sense why we hold the doses a little longer too right?

Thank you for being here Marje

Thank you Staci! I told myself (and Mister) we are starting fresh today, and we did.

Yes because we allow for NDW, bouncing, clearing the bounce, etc.

I’m really happy to help you & Mister.😻

Ketones 0.6, happy they haven’t went up! He had more energy today than he’s had in awhile. Played with his sister all day, bullied his older brother (boys 😆)

Struggled to keep him still for fluids again, he got about half the dose (~50ml) but I also add water to every meal. I’m still counting that a win, considering how I’ve had some struggles lately.

I also made a feeding schedule for him, I’ve been feeding him every few hours but it varies what and how much each time. I like to make lists and keep things organized and I think it will help me understand how his insulin and diet are working together. I’m leaving room for fluctuations because cats will be cats. I also want to keep things consistent whenever I start working. My mom will be home to feed him when I need her to.

Here’s a picture of him and his little sister, Calliope. Have a great rest of your day everyone💗
