It’s been a few weeks since I checked in. Stoney is starting to look really good at 12u. Did I just jinx him? Hopefully not!

His numbers are still a little all over the place but we are holding this dose. The lowest he has gotten to on 12u was 50 on the dot. If he would have gone any lower we would have reduced. We have been seeing LOTS of blues! And greens are creeping in there, too! 💙💚

We are slowly trying to get him to lose weight. The last time we were at the vet, I believe he was 20.4lbs. I still don’t know how he got this big! Him and his siblings would eat the same amount of food. But, we have an automatic laser toy and he has been working up to chase it around.

The last and final update, I have resigned from my corporate 9-5 job. It was not working for me anymore. I will be taking a much needed break. Financially it will be tough but we will make it through. I will be resting and relaxing. I am grateful to have a husband who supports me through this! I could not have made the decision without him. So, I will be spending even more time with Stoney and our other 2 kitties. I am sure they are sick of me by now. Working from home for 3 years has been awesome!

Oh wow, McKenzie. I am really happy for you being able to quit the job. Did you say you had health issues and that is why you were working from home in the first place?
 
It’s good to see some nice numbers on his spreadsheet. It looks like when his preshot is near or below 100 you really need to shoot a reduced dose.

How much did Stoney weigh when he was first diagnosed? He’s really big!

We were mandated work from home due to COVID, and I ended up moving. My company then decided that they wanted to mandate return to office, and since I do have a neurological medical issue, I requested to stay WFH. It was denied. 😕 Thank you! I am really excited for this new adventure. I do not know what I will be doing with my time but right now I am going to enjoy the much needed break!

I figured we needed to reduce when his numbers are around 100. We have managed super well, with no hypo events. Thank goodness. Other than a random bout of vomit this morning. He nearly puked on my head! Woke me straight up. It was just undigested food. I am sure it was from the small amount of HC we gave him last night. He doesn’t get that often. Let me know your thoughts on how much you think we should reduce by. I have been lurking on other threads, but couldn’t determine what was best. I know most recommendations are specific to each cat. I should have asked. I don’t know what I’ve been thinking!

He was around the same weight, 18-20lbs. His weight typically fluctuates.
 
We have seen 2 lime greens, yesterday and today! He has been safe with no signs of hypo. Gave a small snack with a tiny bit of Karo. Will be monitoring every half hour/hour.

He has earned yet another reduction! Should we be reducing by .25, .5, or 1 whole unit? .25 is hard with the syringes. We have the ones with the half markings. We plan to bring him down to 10.5u this evening.
 
With cats on doses of 10 units and over, we usually do reductions in terms of percentage of the dose. I would reduce down to 10 units for his next dose, which is just slightly less than a ten percent reduction. Also a consideration is that he’s gone lime twice in the last two days.
 
I’m glad he’s doing okay. The 40s aren’t super dangerous because cats who aren’t on any insulin can be in the 40s, but since he is on insulin and a good high dose, we definitely want to try and keep him out of the 40s and at 50+
