Hi, I'm having a problem with bubbles in the 0.3 u100 insulin syringes with 0.5 units.
Does anyone have a way to prevent them from forming?
They're also hard to see given the microdose. Thanks, I'm going crazy.

Regards
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel!
Little bubbles can be really annoying. You have to tap the syringe with the back of your fingernail enough times so all the bubbles became one large and then gently push the plunger until you see a little drop on the top of the needle.
About dosing, In this thread you can find useful info not only about how to measure the dose with the type with a digital calliper but also with a paper one.
You will definitely need a magnifying glass!

Info - Dosing with calipers updated w/videos

I'm copying Jil & Alex's message

FYI: The German-Katzen Board created a paper template for fine dosing with BD syringes.
The template is included in this document:

You can print it out for your own use. However, please be aware the template is for those using BD Micro-Fine + Demi 0.3-mL U-100 syringes only.

Also It will be useful to create a spreadsheet for Luna.
All the info is here and you can ask for help if something bothering you, Marje and Grace is going to help you with everything you need.

Have a nice day

Thanks for your advice, unfortunately the dose is unstable right now precisely because of the bubbles.I'm attaching an image of yesterday's dose, which worked well, and today's, which didn't.
As you can see there are big bubbles in the syringe on the right.

Hello again Gabriel,

I'm too new to this journey to give you any type of advise but I think there is a multitudes of factors who interfere to the way of a kitty's response to a dose. Bubbles are certainly one of them but certainly not the only one.
You can try to flick the syringe multiple times to get all the bubble on the top of the syringes and then "play" with the plunger until a drop or insulin come of the needle.

This short video shows how to flick the syringe.

One think you have to be careful is never wipe the top of the insulin vial with alcohol. As you certainly know insulin is an hormone not a drug so if alcohol accidental find his way inside the vial it can damage it.

As Blanca says, you must load the dose, you tap the syringe with your first and second fingers, lowering it and raising it again, repeating this several times until there are no bubbles. With bubbles, you will never know what dose you are giving your cat; it has to be real, without bubbles.
