Happy Friday!

Xander was eating well today, but then at +4, he threw up a very large volume of food and liquid. He seems okay now after he got it out, but I called the vet to see if they think he should be seen/take cerenia. Hopefully it was nothing and just some stomach irritation. 😕
Aw, buddy. I hope it was just one of those random things, not the start of a flare or anything where you'll need to start medicating more. ❤️

Yeah it was very random, he wasn't having any issues with inappetence before this, eating almost to average. I was about to come offer his last meal after a great nadir and he went on his tour of throwing up through the house

I'm leaning towards it just being nothing but will see what the vet says, probably starting him on cerenia.
Last time he had that pancreatitis flare, it came on gradually without any vomiting really.

I don't think it's a bad idea to take precautions! But I hope they're ultimately not necessary.

Could he have eaten something he shouldn't that might have set him off? (Not necessarily actual food.)

Gen's not a big puker for the most part (the admittedly very big puke he had on Sunday was his first in many years, aside from the odd hairball), so it's not something I have a lot of direct experience with, but I definitely wouldn't jump to conclusions about a single event without apparent lead-up/other factors. Best of luck to you both!

I don't think so but its possible. He's thrown up like this before like 6 months back and then resumed eating like an hour later so it could just be stomach irritation. Last time it was earlier in the cycle, so much less food on board to come out.

He's acting completely normal now playing with a toy, but the vet wants to see him in an hour. At least it'll give me a chance to ask a few questions i've been sitting on and finally get some cerenia on hand for when things like this happen. This will be the third vet at the practice i've seen, but I love how they always have availability for an emergency appointment/text line for questions.

So glad you have a great vet practice!!
And definitely get Cerenia to have on hand. (You know I’m always telling everyone to do that. These cats seem to need it at night and on weekends/holidays).

I hope Xander feels better and it’s not the dreaded p-titis.
But good job being proactive and hoping you’ve been able to ward off anything nasty!
Hugs to both of your boys 🐈🐈😻

Xander was given a shot of cerenia and ondansetron as well as some fluids. I was also told to give him his mirataz as well. I'm hoping it was just minor stomach irritation and he eats well tonight. I also mentioned how the tiny dose of mirataz every few days has worked great for him and she's totally on board with that.

I didn't have time to give him gaba because it was an unexpected visit and he did NOT behave well like the last time unmedicated. But they were able to manage. Poor guy must have been stressed because he drooled all over the kennel.

I now have the cerenia on hand and will probably give him a dose for the rest of the weekend to make sure all is good.

Awww poor stressed Xander.
Glad he survived the vet.
He should feel better with the meds and the fluids now.

Glad you got the Cerenia!
Now feel better Xander and have a calm night Albert 🥰❤️‍🩹😻🐈

So far so good, he ate his snack really well, started searching for food about an hour before dinner, and just licked his first PM bowl clean. Fingers crossed it was nothing 🤞

Here's Xander in the bandana they put on him sprayed with feliway to calm him down. He was too mad to get a better pic:

Oh poor buddy about being too mad. We love his handsome pics! 💓

That’s interesting about Feliway on the bandana. I’ve not seen that.
I’ll have to try that for Ivy.
I normally spray that in her crate before I put her in it to go to the vet, but I don’t actually think it helps 😢Nothing seems to help my feisty girl.

I’m so glad he’s eating well and let’s hope it turns out that it was nothing but better that you got him checked out to make sure 💕🥰😻
