“New Member” - Good morning and thank you for letting me join this group. I am going to start testing tomorrow AM (wish me luck) but my question is that my cat wants his wet food right when we get up. Can I give him a small amount of wet food and then test him? Not sure how long it takes to have the small amount affect his glucose for this testing? Any ideas on what you do first thing in AM, let me know! Thanks again!

It all depends on the wet food carb % you mare giving mare you giving pates between 0-10% carbs? what insulin are you giving? you can give just a tiny snack but test right away, you can test, feed, shoot

Hi Corky, I am giving 1 unit of Lantus 2x a day and he is on FF classic pate.

great choice of food and carbs, are you home testing? most members use the ReliOn human monitor and strips (Walmart) no need for a pet meter, is important to test prior to shot and 3-4 times during the day, also feeding several times during the day with small meals or snacks to keep the Lantus Depot in check, we are very numbers oriented, we would like you to create your signature and spreadsheet, this way we do not have to ask you the same thing over and over again and we can all be on the same page, as well as assist you in Lantus dosing and/or all other concerns you may have, links below 😟 🤗
