Amps 400 Libre 😩

Huge bounce today after 2 low cycles yesterday. Overnight the Libre shut down at +6 (12 am) 😩

I had a feeling it would so just that after several hours running low.
Of course I replaced the Libre in the wee hours 😳

I did blood test her around +5.5 last night and she was 129 on the Contour meter. On her Libre that would be in 40s.
Libre thinks the user is too low and stops working.
Argh πŸ˜– 🀬

I’ve given several reductions in the past few days. Seems she’s either broken through some insulin resistance or something else is going on and her insulin needs are reduced.
This sudden need for less follows a month of increases as she was suddenly needing more insulin. wtf is all I can say.

A true mystery to me 🫣

Well, let’s see once this depot rebalances where we are.
Wish us luck πŸ€ today with trying to figure out which way is up ⬆️

I completely understand your situation; I'm in the same boat as you. This morning, Sinver seemed to have bounced back, and now he's back to blue. In the end, I don't know what to think or what else to do for him. I try not to overthink it because I don't get anywhere, and it distracts me from studying for my exams.
I know what you mean. I try to just go with the flow and follow her numbers.
Reduce or increase accordingly.
I hope you and Sinver have a calm day πŸ’—πŸ’•πŸ₯°πŸ˜»

Wow, more than a unit less insulin in a week. She sure does like do go low on you at night too

I'm trying to find in your notes when you last upped her thyroid medication. Just wondering if maybe there's a connection there (hyperthyroidism control versus glucose control or insulin resistance).

Look at this paper. It's from 1989, but the last line of the abstract says "It is concluded that hyperthyroidism in cats leads to impairment of glucose tolerance possibly due to peripheral insulin resistance.".

Just speculating, of course. And you have probably already looked into it :bighug:

Ivy looks great and you're doing an amazing job with her as always πŸ˜„

We upped her thyroid meds in early January, then her need for increased insulin went up and up.
Then suddenly she’s been needing meds again.
I’m sure you’re right, it must have something to do with the thyroid.
Thanks for the link.

It’s so difficult to try to balance multiple diseases simultaneously and try to know what’s going on.

I don’t get definitive answers when I ask these questions. I get β€œyes, it’s probably related” as an answer πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜©

I hope Pookey is feeling much better today! How’s he doing?
Thanks for checking on us πŸ’•πŸ’—πŸ˜»πŸ₯°

Ouch Ivy sweet girl. I hope she comes down again but gently. Hopefully you can get some good rest tonight.
We're sending backup CATpuccinos for today

As always you're such a great mama to her.

In the photo, Ivy: "why you spying on me mama? I wasn't doing anything" 😹😹😹

Thanks for the CATpuccinos, Karolina. I can always count on you to life me up πŸ’—πŸ’•πŸ’“
Hugs to you and the boys 🐈🐈πŸ₯°πŸ˜»

Ugh, you have all my sympathies on the complicated ailments and mysterious changes, as usual. And especially the lost sleep. 😭 I don't think I'd have the fortitude to manage a Libre replacement in the wee hours. Go Staci, super cat mom! πŸ’–
Thanks, Allie. I had to push myself for sure.
It was either replace the Libre or be stressed all night with no data and have to poke her.
As it turned out she bounced by the time the new one was up and running, so at least I could close my eyes 🫣😩

... very relatable. He had much, much better timing, but Gen and I had the exact same experience today: Libre shut itself down after a run of lows, I installed a new one, and in the meantime he's bounced way up high. Bleh.

Crossing my fingers for your sleep tonight. ❀️ 🀞:bighug:

I’m so glad you both had daylight hours for a shut down.
My last 2 have been middle of the night this past week x2 πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
