Yikes on the biting attempt. I miss Levemir too, there doesn't seem to be a good alternative. The company recommends Tresiba as an alternative, but we've only seen a few cats try it.

Your question on whether the vet will know about insulin auto antibodies is a good one. It's a simple add on test to the IGF-1 test. A lot of visits need to be convinced to add it on. We do have a few cats here with just IAA, so it's good to test for it at the same time.

Regarding the snoring, Neko never snored, but her non diabetic buddy did.

Yikes on the biting attempt.
If it's not biting, it's swatting at me. He swats my hand when I take his bowl to fill it with food. He swats at his food bowls reaching way up on the counter when he is on the ground, when I'm filling them.
He screams (it's more than a cry) and he growls and his tail thumps and he swats at me when I'm testing him. I think he even hissed once. I would think after two months he would be better at this. But, I need to get better at it too. I probably average 3 pokes per test (between 1 and 5 normally), sometimes I have to get a new lancet out I've poked him so much with the first one.

Just now; he always knows when it's 12:00 and lunch time, and jumps up onto my desk to let me know. When I got up, he headed to the kitchen, and I said test first, and he went into the livingroom and jumped up onto the couch where he gets tested.

I asked my vet about this, and she said sometimes when a cat gets heavy they snore.
She is a specialist with brachelsavatic (sp?) dogs (bull dog types). A lot of them are heavy. I don't think Jackson is overly heavy, not like some pictures of cats I've seen.

I just made an appointment for 5:00pm next Monday.
The receptionist told me for blood sugar tests we recommend doing the test 4 hours after his insulin shot. I told her that won't be necessary. Lol
I thought a lot of his blood work was off in December, and my vet said she wasn't worried about it, and I guess thought it was off because of his blood sugar.
I will try to enter it all into his spreadsheet in the next couple days, and have Marje take a look.
I will probably have her run regular blood work again and a urinalysis, and also send out for the Acro and IAA tests.
I also want her to check his mouth out well. He had a top canine removed a couple of years back and lately he's been holding his mouth funny or getting his bottom lip stuck or something.

I found something that looks like a tick on his right ear (the one that I test). It's small and gray colored, like maybe a deer tick? I can't believe there are ticks alive right now though, as we have had so much below freezing weather for many weeks in New Jersey. When I try to pick at it, he flinchs wildly of course. I don't know if it will still be there next Monday at our vet visit.

I think Jackson got into some noodles tonight. Each time I went to check on my spaghetti sauce I saw fettucinni (sp?) noodles hanging over the edge of the pot that was draining in the sink and I put them back. When I was eating my dinner, I'm pretty sure I saw him grab a long noodle from my plate and he devoured it before I could stop him.

Omg Dyana! Noodles! I remember George tucking into some toast and blueberry jam when he was still running high. But the image of Jackson slurping a noodle.....I couldn't help Giggling.

Hang in there, I hope you get to a good dose soon.

Jackson no more contraband ok, especially no more high carb pasta!

This morning, I kept hearing licking in the kitchen and figured he was licking something in the sink, like if there are Fancy Feast cans soaking in water to clean and recycle.
I got up and he was licking something spilled on my stovetop (probably spaghetti sauce).
J.D. once grabbed my peanut butter a jelly sandwich when he was first starting out.
Sometimes, I wish I had some R, ya know?

I hate to say this, but deer ticks are notorious for being active during warmer days even in the winter. (They don't freeze to death - they just become very slow/inactive/go into a sort of hibernation-like torpor when the weather is below freezing, so sometimes if you get temperatures that are up in the 40s for a day or two, they "wake up" and move around more.) And they can very easily be carried inside on a pant leg or something if you just happened to brush a shrub or something else where they happen to have stepped off a passing deer, so they can be passed to an indoor pet. (It's very frustrating. I hike around a lot at all times of year, so it's something I've learned about.)

That doesn't mean it's necessarily a tick on Jackson's ear, but I'd recommend against ruling it out because of the time of year.

Thanks.
I have been pretty much an inside hermit for so long this winter, but there were two Saturdays (my only day off), when there was sunshine and I sat outside for a bit.
I don't know, it's on a cement path and I didn't go in the bushes at all. They are covered in snow.
I saw the gray thing on his ear again, today.
