yesterday's condo

Last night, Jude spent some time in the limes; I had a bit of a hard time getting him boosted up--he was eating, but his numbers just weren't responding. At his preshot this morning he was inappetent. He went to the food bowl and smelled but then sat down next to it (likely nauseous). He was a little bit this way last night, but I was able to persuade him to eat with some treats sprinkled on top of his food, so I didn't think anything of it then, but now I suspect that the nausea was starting last night. This morning nothing would work to stimulate his appetite, so I had to syringe feed him to then get his insulin in him. I decided to give a partial shot, since his food intake was low. I started giving him Ondansetron this morning, and he is eating on his own a few hours later. His diarrhea continues (I am giving a probiotic). It's quite stinky. I have an appointment with the vet this afternoon.

I hope he feels much better quickly, glad you’ve started Jude on all the things to help him feel better.

Thank you, Staci. I'm a bit worried about p-itis. He's not vomited a lot but he did once yesterday--a small amount of foam, so I suspected it was just stomach acid from being hungry (and I gave him a little food). Otherwise, he doesn't seem too "off." But Jude's not one to show symptoms when he's sick, AND he's pretty well loaded down with drugs that cause drowsiness, so it's hard to tell if he's lethargic or not. He's not hiding, and I don't see evidence of grimacing.

When Xander had his pancreatitis episode, his only symptom was inappetence and one vomit that may have just been an ordinary hairball. The other 2 throw ups he had I actually think were caused by the cerenia on an empty stomach, since it happened very shortly after dosing. Despite the nausea and low eating, he was playing and acting almost perfectly normal, maybe only a tiny bit less energy.

When Xander had his pancreatitis episode, his only symptom was inappetence and one vomit that may have just been an ordinary hairball. The other 2 throw ups he had I actually think were caused by the cerenia on an empty stomach, since it happened very shortly after dosing. Despite the nausea and low eating, he was playing and acting almost perfectly normal, maybe only a tiny bit less energy.

Hmmmm.
When Ivy had it she wouldn’t eat for me and she was meat loafing. Her face just looked miserable.
And she went to a corner and faced the corner.

And she began it all with loose stools which just got worse over a day or so until I realized something was up.

So her body language was very clear she felt awful.
So it seems ECID for sure.

I hope Jude doesn’t have it, and hope the vet has insight to help

Thanks, everyone, for checking in on us. I took Jude to the vet today with a urine sample I gathered on Saturday. Blood work looked good. Physical exam looked good--he doesn't have any abdominal pain. The vet doesn't suspect pancreatitis. He does suspect a UTI after looking at the UA, and he has started Jude on an injectable antibiotic. I'm directed to continue the Ondansetron, Gaba, and Prazosin, and to try to gather another urine specimen on day four of the ab (the end of the regimen), and take that back to the vets on Friday. He had a diarrhea blow out in the carrier on the way to the vets and another much larger one + a large pee on the way home from the vets Poor Jude kept screaming at the top of his lungs because he was sitting in his poop and pee. I was like, buddy, I'm not enjoying this smell in this enclosed vehicle much either

Update: I gave Jude some Ondansetron this morning when he wasn't eating, and about 40 minutes later, he was eating on his own (after being syringe fed). Tonight, again, he wouldn't eat, even though I gave him Ondansetron an hour prior to shot time. I had to syringe feed again tonight.

Poor Jude! Hope those antibiotics help get him feeling better sooner than later and that he gets over the diarrhea quickly.
