70 is good! I'm curious: what % carb did you feed her? You'll want to note that in the remarks section of your spreadsheet.
Also, you'll need to keep an eye on her. The carbs will stay in her system for only about an hour or two; you need to test her at that time to ensure she doesn't begin falling back down into lower numbers. You are going to be testing her bg until two or more tests remain the same or higher or until she begins to trend upward. Feel free to pop back on here if you have concerns.
Under TR dosing, a newly diagnosed kitty that falls below 50 earns a dose reduction. I always like to copy/paste the information from the dosing sticky for caregivers because, ultimately, this is your decision, and when I make decisions, I like to know what rules/guidelines I'm following to make them (
Sticky - Dosing Methods: Start Low, Go Slow (SLGS) & Tight Regulation (TR)):
- If kitty drops below 40 (long term diabetic) or 50 (newly diagnosed diabetic) reduce the dose by 0.25 unit. If kitty has a history of not holding reductions well or if reductions are close together... sneak the dose down by shaving the dose rather than reducing by a full quarter unit.
Congratulations on the reduction!
Great job keeping her safe!!
