She'll level out. Just give her time to get used to those lows. It does get discouraging but bounces let Mama sleep! She'll find her dose and she'll be working it in no time!
 
Hi Jenn- I meant to get back to you since your original post on the main forum. Looks like the bouncing continues, which can be frustrating. Some cats will go high before they break the bounce, so it will be interesting to see how tonight goes. How has Holley been doing otherwise? Her case is a bit interesting to me; I’ve been here for over 8 years and haven’t seen such a young cat diagnosed. Is she exclusively an indoor cat? And she’s not on any other meds?

Shes an anomaly for sure. She is exclusively indoors. She had a pretty rough go. She was found by a friend of mine at 8 weeks old with maggots inside of her vagina. I was a vet tech at the time so we brought her in. Got all that cleared up and i brought her home, was only supposed to be a foster. The next night she tanked, brought her back in and her BG was through the roof...like 600. It was a whirlwind trying to learn how to dose a kitten so small. The dr ended up "making" her insulin using a short acting insulin diluted with saline. so she was getting poked every two hours for about 3 weeks. once she was a bit bigger we put her on a low dose of vetsulin. about 6 months later she had some catnip and she became catatonic, was hospitalized for 3 days on deaths door. Aside from that, here we are over 2 years later and shes thriving minus being a diabetic.
 
Oh boy what a rough start, I’m so glad she found you. Her sweet little face is more than enough for anyone to want to keep her :bighug:. I just wanted to rule out the chance of her having some outside food that you weren’t necessarily aware of. You’re doing a great job testing, it really does help to get a feel for her patterns and how Lantus is currently working for her.

She lives in my bedroom 24/7, shes not a huge fan of my other cats and she finds any morsel of food in the kitchen, including in the trash...so she doesnt leave my room unless shes completely supervised and i dont keep any type of food in my room so definitely no outside sources.
