I believe I should make you aware of this situation I have had back to back with 2 shipment of ProZinc thru CHEWY.COM
for 4 years I receive within 48 hour the ProZinc in a special
"refrigerate box", with at least 5 bags of ice, insulin in between, on the 13th I received a very light box from Chewy, when I opened the box the there was only bubble wrapping and the insulin box at the bottom of the box, NO ICE, THE INSULIN WAS CORRUPTED, CRYSTALIZED AND SUPER CLOUDY, I called Chewy, I complained, they send another vial today, again shipped the same, insulin Corrupted, I lost 2 refills,
I spoke to a supervisor, 3 pharmacists about this, they agreed that that is not the way the insulin should be packed, and shipping département has specific instructions on how to pack insulin, the complaint was done.
However, my concern is to the newbies and mommies in the Forum that purchase their insulin from CHEWY.COM, that have no idea what insulin should look like, that they give this insulin to their cats, the BG levels stay the same or get higher, or worse due to a bad insulin, and we try to help not knowing the issue, etc. I expressed this to the pharmacist, and supervisor, they were very apologetic, and they will immediately try to remedy the situation, but it may take some time.
Suggestion: Given the situation and that many vets who prescribe Prozinc sell the insulin from their practice, it would be prudent for a member to purchase a pen or vial from the vet and get a prescription they can subsequently send to Chewy ( the Vet can send the prescription directly to Chewy.com/pharmacy, most vets have their email , rx@chewy.com (since I suspect they charge less than a vet). This will give them time to get their cat started on insulin and also provide them with insulin that is wholly intact so they know what to look for. You can recommend this as a strategy to members purchasing insulin for the first time. The packaging from Chewy, should be heavy, with ice packs at the bottom, sides, sides, with the insulin box in between the middle, please check the vial, it should be cold, not cloudy, or any crystalized particles in the bottom, if this is the case, call customer service at Chewy and ask for a replacement/refund,
