Still high glucose levels

Hello, I did a blood curve test today and found that his levels aren’t going down but up. I am giving Clover 2 units of Prozinc. However his blood glucose levels aren’t going down. I also switched him to Fancy Feast classic pate poultry and beef canned foods: Tender Chicken and Liver Feast, Turkey and Giblet Feast, and Tender Beef and Chicken Feast. I feed him two and a half cans in the morning and a half can after two hours or a whole can, depending how hungry he is as well as two and a half cans at night with a 1/2 can before bedtime at 10. He gets fed around 7:30-8:30am/pm. Recently, he has been eating some hill prescription glucobalance dry food here and there. I live with my parents and sometimes they feed him. If I feed him too little in the day he gets super hungry. How can I keep his glusose levels in check? Am I feedin him too much? Sometimes my father feeds him little snacks of human food too. To add, I used the ReliOn platinum human glucomontir for the test.

Attached to this post is a photo of his recent curve. I have not finished it yet, but you can see that it is still very high.

Hello and welcome to the FDMB! 🙂 I could not recommend increasing Clover’s insulin based on one day’s curve. Clover could be having high numbers due to what we call a bounce— a reaction from previous lower glucose numbers. I can explain more about bouncing, but the most important thing is that we need to het a few days data on Clover (including today’s tests) logged into a spreadsheet so that we actually can make some good dosing adjustments. I would be happy to help you with that.

Can you help by attaching the information on how to get started with a signature and a spreadsheet.

I doubt that you are feeding too much — it’s more about what you are feeding. It sounds like you’re trying to feed a low carb wet food diet, but maybe others are feeding some food that is raising blood glucose. The dry glycobalance is too high in carbohydrates and will raise BG (despite the deceptive name). Eliminating higher carb food will help a lot.

I agree with Suzanne about the dry glycobalance being too high in carbs
What you can feed as a snack instead is

Click on this link and look at post #6. Numbers are to the right
You can get any freeze dried treats ,information is there
? - Brand New, Many Questions :3

Freeze dried treats that only contain one ingredient (the meat or fish) is zero carb and fine to feed to a diabetes
