I got the same news (no cancer) for one of my babies yesterday too.💕
If it's inflammation for yours (mine's just bad ibd), I've found thc-free cbd for cats helps so much. Used it for intestinal cancer, arthritis, and stomatitis. All for inflammation and it's helped so much.
Have a great day both of you!

I'm so glad you're feeling better. ❤️ You have your assignment, Pipster!

Inflammation, you say ... what was the cbd brand you were recommending again? I meant to note it down when you shared it in someone else's thread sometime in the last week or so, but I forgot.

Just copy/pasting the response I have saved for the recommendation for these.😁
CBD- I've used 3 brands with success. I've been told all are not created equal, so here's the ones I've used:
Bought Ellevet from the vets office, though you can go to their site too. Ellevet is costly, but the strongest so you use less. It also tastes really bad as nothing is added to cover the taste. I believe it's $75 for a 1050mg/15ml bottle. But being the strongest and if either your cat won't care about an awful taste going down, or don't mind the mess on putting it into capsules? You pay for what you get there. It worked the best.
Then there's Lazarus Naturals salmon oil flavored. It's a good brand and if your cat likes fish flavor, this is a good alternative. I believe it's $20 for a 600mg/30ml bottle. I like them a lot too.
Guess who had a cat in need of cbd that hates fish?🙄
If you have pain in the bum cats like mine, there is CBDMD's catnip flavored. But it's $30 (unless you use subscription service) for a 300mg/30ml bottle. It's my least favorite for potency results. My cat was allergic to fish so hated the LN's one. And only 1 of my cats ever even knew I was drugging her good with it. I taste tested that one and there's barely a flavor at all to it. Maybe a minty type that's real drowned out? But it does work. My gal that had the ibd turned scl gi, plus the HT, plus at the end the skin cancer was the finicky one. I just squirted it in her mouth twice a day. Everyone else that needs it gets it mixed in their food.:)
Hope that helped.

Oh nooo, of course the LN one tastes like salmon. Gen loves tuna and seems to be fine with cod, whitefish, shrimp, sole ... but he haaates salmon for some bizarre reason. Won't touch it.

Thank you! I can't really afford the most expensive one, especially since getting Gen to eat it would be nearly impossible (including in a capsule, and definitely with direct squirting). But I may try the cheap one just to see if it's any help.

313 at +7 I guess it's a bounce cycle for Pip

I came home from school early, not 100% yet.

I know this is unrelated to diabetes and about another cat, but vet prescribed Tiny some prednisolone (7 5mg pills over 24 days, half of one (2.5mg) per day for 8, a quarter (1,25mg) per day for 8, and 1.25mg each 48 hours for 8 days...

Tiny is, well, TINY... he weighs less than 4kg and has a few bumps on his abdomen from food allergies...
He also has recurring tummy inflamation from allergies and I often have to spoon feed him because he is not food motivated at all.
He also does not drink water, at all, I make him soup from his wet food, always have, so if he gets thirsty from the med he wont even know to drink water.
He had a complete stomach blockage at 6months old and I had to pay 10k to open him up and remove a bunch of stuff he had eaten because of Pica... he is 9 years old now
A few months ago he had to spend 2 days at the ER after i found him lying in his litter box howling and lethargic, his salt was off the chart and potassium was low... he did 3 weeks of antibiotics.

I could go on... he is my fragile tiny baby boy :(
But he is doing amazing these days, even climbs on his wall carpet, he's like a kitten again after the food change and antibiotics.

I have cut the offending food (fingers crossed cause its not just one allergy), I have isaderm gel for topical treatment... I've just heard so many horror stories about prednisolone and I am scared.

advice? opinions? ask somewhere else this isn't the place?
thank you 💕

Omg yay for no cancer! <3

Could cbd replace a prednisolone treatment you think?

PMPS is 270 that's Pip's lowest for the day so hopefully he comes back down from the bounce for his PM cycle :)

He seems hungrier than usual today does that usually happen when bouncing?

Also, he does have rhino, but has not been sneezing or anything, I notice his eyelids are a bit red and he opens his eyes a bit weird can it be related to his diabetes?

thank you!

Your cats are just so pretty! Tiny is darling.

Sarah, I think it's fine to ask about other medications/feline needs here, people seem to do plenty of it, but you might want to add the little blue ? prefix and maybe something about "meds questions" or similar in your title. Have to catch the right eyes sometimes. (Sadly I know nothing about prednisone.)

We're down to 203 at +3.5...

Should I stay up till +5 to be sure he doesn't dive or do you think I'm good if I leave out a bit more LC food? :)

Thank you everyone and kisses to the kitties :)

I wouldn't stay up. The greens you saw the other night never dipped scary. Believe me, I know all about the worry of low numbers and I've spent at least 2 nights staying up till 3 once and 5am another. But he was continually in the line green colors. Your baby did great with the prettier green. I won't say you can't stay up, but if you compare your numbers (pmps) to the night he had the greens, they were higher. So while that's not proof, to me it looks a good sign he won't plummet.
What was Tiny on the Pred for? I'm terrified of using it too in general. But I've got my one that was diagnosed with scl gi in October on 2.5mg twice a day until I can get her settled on her chemo drugs. Then we'll earn her off them. I worry about another diabetic.😕 And I had another cat also with scl gi (this is my 3rd)that when she went on the Pred every day (much to my complaints), got what the vet referred to as Phantom Cushings. I hate the drug, but know it's needed sometimes.
Can it replace the steroids? Absolutely! But it depends on what it's for. Such as, my first cancer gal I got from the shelter at age 10. They threw her away when they found out she was sick and I took her home. She was placed on Pred first to stop her nightly throwing up, that she'd done since I brought her home. She was them placed on chemo pills after I got her diagnosis. She was on once weekly chemo, and 2.5mg Pred nightly for almost 3.5yrs before I learned about cbd. My vet said get farther has the same type of cancer and it's improved his quality of life a lot so we tried it. After 1 week I noticed a great improvement in her. After 2 weeks, I decided to try her off the Pred. She never went back on it and never threw up again. I believe she was on a higher dose, around 7.5mg twice a day if I'm not mistaken. She did great on that combo for nearly 2yrs till she passed from kidney failure. It helped problems I didn't even know she had! Apparently she'd been dealing with arthritis and anxiety as well. She used to have her own room and rarely left it. We'd come to her all the time. I thought it was because she was older and didn't want to be around the younger ones. Rescue work. But after on this a little, she suddenly not only started coming out of her room, but remained out of it all day and night to be with us. And moved around with ease too. I had no idea she was having these problems till then. Cbd can be great for them and I use it as I can to help ease whatever they're going through.💕

I've just heard so many horror stories about prednisolone and I am scared.
My currently just under 4kg kitty gets 3 mg of prednisolone per day for her IBD. Without it, she gets ileus, so pred is the least of evils. But it is down from the 4 mg a day, which she started at in 2018. She is not diabetic. Yes there are long term side effects to prednisolone, but I am talking about years of use. 24 days should be fine. Especially with such a tiny dose.

Just to end the pred convo and thank you for your input :)

Tiny's bumps have literally dissapeared after 3 days of food change and the gel, so I wrote the vet to ask if the pred was necessary, we shall see what she thinks.

have a wonderful day and thank you so much for your input @Tyleete and @Wendy&Neko

So happy that was it. So do you know what it was (food) that was triggering the allergic reaction? So you can watch those labels for food and snacks. Like with my cats, it's so hard to find any food without their allergies, as it's in 99%v of all foods.
Happy this worked for you. And if the symptoms are fully gone, can't imagine a reason to stay on them. I might do 24hrs of the need after the last signs of the reaction are gone just in case. But certainly not the whole month.
