I’m so worn down by this. I don’t know how to solve this boomerang green to yellow to no green cycle to down to 60. It’s complete chaos. She’s not earning reductions for sure yet she isn’t staying yellow/blue long enough to justify an increase. The only thing it can be is stomatitis, as vet said she shouldn’t already have that red line along gumline having just done a dental.

I know that this is so frustrating for you!! Trust me, we are having our own share of bouncing or boomeranging or whatever it is, and I'm not sure if Jude's issue is his teeth or what. I was talking to someone about Jude's teeth earlier (yes, I'm THAT work colleague; I'm sure people are like, if she says one more thing about her cat...). I'm still not sure what the dental can do for them when they have gingivitis. I've heard people on here say that the toothpaste (the one I mentioned to you) has helped improve their cat's issues. I wonder what the solution is for stomatitis? Or gingivitis? Isn't stomatitis a much more severe illness with sores in the mouth and gingivitis is just gum inflammation??

Ok, now that I have calmed down a little from seeing that +3 229, let me see if I can say something coherent. It’s probably bouncing from the 60 last night. 229 is not dangerous and not going to kill my cat. I’m just yearning for the blue/green days … something has changed to make yellow again. Wendy did say she has seen cats come down in dose and then go back up again. Maybe IAA can be seasonal, who knows.

Good question. I think stomatitis is auto immune while gingivitis is normal reaction to bacteria? Yet I think when you get rid of all the teeth you usually get rid of stomatitis because the auto immune is still somehow over reacting to the teeth or stuff on the teeth. I don’t see any sores in her mouth but its hard to look. Her mom had caudal stomatitis and back of her mouth looked like hamburger meat.

I bought the paste you told me about, but then I also bought the maxi guard oral cleansing wipes because I want to start with gently wiping her teeth and gums first … before trying to use a brush with paste as that could be too harsh to start. I just used the wipe for the 2nd day. And her right upper side gumline is visibly reddened, much more than other areas from what I can tell. I wonder why this would be. I would assume stomatitis would be throughout mouth and not just one area (unless you only had teeth in one area).

I am going to talk to vet about starting her on doxycycline.

Uh, I’m sorry Laura. The bouncing is the worst… you know they can go low, but why must they overcompensate for good numbers! The body does what the body does. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating or defeating, especially when you’ve come from a period of good numbers.

Question are the toothpaste and maxi guard, are those both safe with diabetes? Also, could you send the toothpaste either @Mary & Jude or @MinnerPip. Thanks!

This was a mild bounce from the 60, which is absolutely predictable.

The Maxi Guard is only an antiseptic.

So i think they are fine.

I will need to investigate. If only I still lived in Austin. They have a cat dental specialist at texas a&m who did Minner’s mom’s full mouth extraction and cured her very bad stomatitis at age 2!

I live in podunk lexington Ky. We’re lucky to have a local board certified cardiologist in town. Would likely need to go north to columbus (ohio state) or possibly Cincinnati at a medvet type facility.

When i lived in Rochester NY, Cornell was 3 hours away and they saved a few of my cats. I will look into their programs, they may offer remote services but it seems like with mouth/dental stuff we need to physically be there so they can physically exam.

FYI - it took Neko a year and a half on insulin before she stopped bouncing to red. I would have killed for Minner's numbers, which fall into the general category of "well regulated".
