Yesterday
Starting new dose
Oh my gosh, can you believe it's December already?
Didn't want to eat though. Still have shot, and as advised yesterday, try to get food in him next 2hrs
😮
Good luck with the reduced dose! You and Nico deserve a great and some calmer cycles!
I hope you can get some rest today (no washing machine today!)
You did great last night, those cycles are sooo hard.

Wishing you a calm and boring Monday 🫂🌊🏄‍♂️😻

Good luck with the reduction! I hope he eats soon and that you both can catch a bit of a break. Maybe a new month will be a nice fresh start for calmer times? 💙

Well that's kind of weird. He didn't eat much at all with his Amps or his +2. AND, his +2 went up just a little from his Amps. I don't think it's ever done that before with him. I guess I'm chucking the numbers up to... Nico is weird.
Don't know why he suddenly doesn't want to eat. Hopefully nothing serious.

Good luck with the reduction! Also keep in mind he could bounce from those lows the other night. (I think, I'm no expert) so he just might be weird for a few cycles 😅

Didn’t really go up as all meters can be off by up to 20% . The way he’s clearing bounces and reduced doses is showing that the dose is too high. At least that’s the case for most cats.

You're saying you think that 3.25 was too high for him too? I know Wendy explained this to me last night and it sounded right, so that's why I went ahead with her suggestion.
None of his previous amounts where working as we went up, but seem to be as he's working his way back down now? I won't pretend to understand it.
Now if I can just get him to eat. :/

I do think it was too high a dose at least right now. It’s a little hard to figure this out for me at least partially because I am not familiar with your meters. What I do know is you want a dose that you can give about every 12 hours that doesn’t require being up all night most nights or needing one time reduced doses often. That occasionally happens with fd but what you are experiencing is unsustainable at least to me.

Food. Does he have a favorite one? Favorite treats? Are you feeding EZC raw or cooked? I found a site where I buy a completer that doesn’t contain chicken liver or I would use EZC too. They have flavors of liver toppers that sometimes entice cats to eat. This may just be a temporary thing for Nico with having to feed the lows so much but if the issue persists might be worth a try.

My cat's weird for ALL cycles.🙄 I think he's broken and is like the Easy button already.
All cats are broken. I used to say that about Blue as well, pre diabetes and during diabetes as well. That's not gonna change.
But look at these blue numbers today after you last night. I was expecting some sort of bouncing, but he's surfing there in healing numbers. That's what you're aiming for and it looks good.

I cook it before adding the EZC. He likes both chicken and pork tenderloin, but only drank the broth it came in. He's acted starved for quite some time. Probably since this began and I didn't realize what it was. But he's snubbed both kinds today so far. He didn't even finish his treat after his Albuterol inhaler treatment today.
What do you mean seems unsustainable? He got up to 3.75u before, because none of the lesser doses were doing anything. It took to be hot on 3.5 to even get him out of the reds. I'm not sure why we had to go so high just to take him back down, but I relent reading that sometimes this is what it takes to kind it break the ceiling, so to speak. He just did not want the insulin to have an effect on him. So now I guess it's just a matter of finding what his 'Right' dose is? Hopefully not too many all nighters I hope. Those are awful, as I'm still feeling it.😅

My boy still is not wanting to eat. Nothing but some treats this morning after testing and shot. Then finally around 1 he only ate around half an ounce of food! Just tried serving him dinner and as before, he drank the broth and left the meat. I have tried his usual chicken and then pork. Nothing. I even tried the beef his brother began yesterday. Nothing. Just wanted to drink the broth.
This is very unusual for a cat that's acted starved for the lady half year and I'm really worried. :(

Were you feeding him lots of food he’s not used to, hc I mean! Maybe he has an upset tummy? Try again a little later. Baby food is my go to but I won’t have that option with one of mine any more or risk her skin allergies.

That's a good idea on the baby food. I still have plenty from when the newest had panleukemia and I was trying everything. I can try that with or without the EZC. I've spoken with the owner and know how much to add to a jar if needed.
I can also try and see what I have for toppers around. I think I have some shriveled duck hearts around I can try and ground.
The thing that's weird to me, was he didn't eat all day until the evening. Then he wanted a lot. Today back to not wanting to eat. And that he still doesn't, worries me.:(
I'll go try the baby food now.
I have fancy feast classic pates in the house, and he'd probably eat those. But I don't want him to reject his fresh food that he eats. There's nothing better for him.

That's a no on the baby food. :(
Little twerp.
Also just tried topper and no go. I pulverized the **** hearts and he likes those, but only ate like maybe 0.3oz of the chicken it was on. Maybe. Hard to tell. It's like he wants to. Goes over to whatever I put I out for him, then no

You say he's eating less compared to last half of year, but what about before? How about for a normal cat his weight? Comming back down to close to normal BG range should make him want to eat less, as the body should be able to get the energy it needs from the less food it consumes.

This is how Jude acts when he is nauseous.
I definitely do! I've got a kitty pharmacy my doc let's me keep stocked for emergency issues. I still have 2 Cerenia shots in my fridge from the last ibd not that wild need them with his flare ups. Pilling him is probably a no-go, but I can crush it and put it in some broth for him. Thank you both for the suggestion. Ambien or not, he woke me up early so I'll do that now. Here's to hoping!

I know you have a lot of cat experience, but I'll just mention that the Ondansetron comes in a quick melt pill (in case you cannot get transdermal or compounded liquid) that I melt and pull up into a small syringe--it ends up being only about 1 ml, so not a lot to have to tolerate. (And I can't pill Jude, so that's not an option.) It tastes awful, though, and Jude gets all frothy with it, but it works. I just got a script for some transdermal Cerenia, so I know that's available. The doctor told me it tastes worse than the Ondansetron when crushed.

I've tried the Ondansetron myself and it's fine. I had a cat that could tell if you hid meds even in tuna! So I got to taste testing a lot. I get the 4mg ones from chewy
