i think i might be finally getting the hang of this, copying links, lol

We overslept a little bit and her shot was about 30 mins late. She had extra food and didn't wake me up for more. Little stinker. I feel a bit silly for worrying last night so much about her, she seemed to do pretty good. She loves her food so if all else fails, she will eat. (Hope I didn't jinx it)
We'll see what today brings. I haven't decided if I'm going to work or not. Have to see how I feel.

Hope you both feel better today! And don't feel silly. I was a mess the first time I was up every hour (which wasn't long ago), testing him. Those new low numbers can be scary! Especially before a shot. That one freaked me out

Thank you!
I have to remind myself everything I see a low number that "this is where we are actually aiming to be" It does take some getting used to.

My other issue at this point is... one of my babies has some gas. We just switched to wet food at the start of this so there have been some loose stools, but one of them is farting like crazy now and I can't tell which one 🤣

Oh THAT must be fun. I had a cat that had gas for a while. Man oh man was that fun. He could clear a room!😅 If it keeps up, maybe pepcid or its generic form would help? I think my guy's was from switching food too. He went from wet to dry.

Hi Regan! You did great with Monster last night. Lower numbers can cause us tall to get a little nervy--they do me. And this is all new for you--you're still learning how she handles the insulin combined with food, etc. Looks like maybe she's having a teensy bounce today, but not too bad.

Surf safe, Monster!!

Aggghh!!! No bounce Monster!!!! She keeps me scratching my head that's for sure. But she's my baby so of course we will endure 😻

I thought I would see her start to go back up by the +8 mark but she's still on the way down. It was starting to look like her nadir was around +6 but not anymore. Can anyone else make any sense of her crazy numbers?

It looks like she's breaking a bounce. She went a little low last night (she MIGHT have even dipped into the greens after that 105), bounced up this morning, and has been going downward since this morning. So she's likely in what we call a bounce-breaking cycle.

If her PMPS is lower than it is now, you want to be careful because when you shoot on a bounce-breaking cycle, they can get some extra momentum from breaking the bounce (in addition to the insulin's effect), which means you just need to be extra vigilant.

If it were me, I would test her at +11.5 to give yourself enough time to post on here just in case she's continuing to move downward and you need to get some advice prior to shot time.

Ok, thanks. I was about to add that she seems very tired today and didn't eat as much as she usually does. Could that be the bounce as well?

About 3 hours
Good! A lot can happen in three hours.

I'm not sure about the bounce causing them to be tired, etc. Certainly, when they don't eat as much, their bg can be lower, so that could be why her numbers are lower today. The bouncing occurs when they go higher in response to a lower number. Here's just a quick reminder of Wendy's comment about Monster's bouncing back on Sunday:
Monster AMPS 184 safe to shoot?

Thank you, i was just looking for that.
Maybe it's just an off day, come to think of it, Angel hasn't really eaten much more today either. The weather is a bit colder today and I'm not feeling great either, lol
I'll post again with her next BG.

A little less than an hour for her PM shot and she's reading 131. So it seems like I'm in a similar spot as last night. I can't stay up late with her tonight. I have to get back to work tomorrow. Finally, feel like I can. She did alright last night but I also left out MC food. Should I go ahead and shoot as normal?

It's alright, I know you have a baby to take care of too.
Yes, I just did! Should I not have?
I think you were fine to shoot. I was and am worried that you can't monitor her (and, listen, I completely understand). Can you at least stay up with her to get a +2/+3? That way you can see what direction she is moving in. She did so well last night on this dose at around the same preshot number, and I don't think tonight should be any different. AND, she bumped up right there at the end of the cycle, so she cleared the bounce, which is really good. Her bounces are getting shorter and they aren't as extreme. Almost two full days of blues! Yay! Pop in if you need help. Also, in the future, when you are waiting for dosing advice, it's a good idea to change your title to reflect something like "STALLING--NEED DOSING ADVICE."

Also, can you go ahead and put TR on your spreadsheet. It's okay if you are just trying it and decide to change your mind later. Although, I think you're doing fine with it :)

Thanks, I fell a little better. I got scared there for a minute. I can't imagine shooting greens if I get this nervous over shooting blues. I'll be up to get a +2 and will try for a +3 too. Thank you again!

Sounds like you're doing a great job! I had to shoot my first greens the other day and won't lie, it scared me to death. He was 92 and I was a bit freaked, but between what your and another said about trusting your instincts, and Wendy's talks about this sort of thing, I went for it. I guess I start the day too early and no one's around at that hour for advice.😅 Can't blame them.
Anyhow, about your tired bouncer? Mine experiences that as well! When his body is bouncing, he acts differently. Since diabetes, he's wanted to remain in my bedroom area with 3 other girls. When he's feeling better on even blue or pink days, he will want to go out and chill in the main living area with 3 other cats that like him better. But on days his poor body is suffering through another bounce, he will stay the entire day in the bedroom. There's definitely a difference. I saw you ask about that and didn't want you to think it was just yours. ;)
After mine hit green, he went into bounce mode yet again and I'm still waiting for him to come back down. I know it's going to be hard on the nerves using to go back to work today, but there's only so much you can control. Try to take it easy and hoping for a good sail today

Thank you, it's so comforting to hear other cats can act different too. Monster has been quite overweight for some time now and she's gotten lazy with that and doesn't usually play much, just grouchy all the time. I can still tell when she doesn't seem to feel well. But since treating her diabetes started, she actually has allowed Angel to play with her, only a few times because we can't let it be known that she is nice and playful 😆
She seems to be doing great this morning and hoping she continues throughout the day.
