My cousin's diabetic cat almost overdosed on insulin.

She lives in a multi-person household. Everyone helps with care. One morning, her mom gave the cat insulin, not knowing that her husband had already done it an hour earlier.

A double dose. This could have resulted in something devastating. No neglect. No one being careless. Just love + no system = near tragedy.

That's the day I decided to build Fido's Bark, a free iOS app that serves as a real-time shared pet health log so every caretaker instantly sees what's already been done.

Neat idea. We use a Google spreadsheet here where caregivers input the units of insulin they gave, effectively the same kind of tracking. I’m sure your app has other features. Seems like a matter of remembering to input into whatever tool. Which is OK, I have things I track in my personal life that require apps.

Thanks for your support! Yes, it is a pet health super-app, where everything is tracked (weight, food intake, activity, medications, etc). It is a great way to track trends and get ahead of potential issues.

The double dosing is unfortunately something we've seen here before. I hope the kitty was OK. Some people have simple techniques like the night before pulling out the two syringes they will use that next day, and put them on a designated place on the counter. You only take one of those syringes. Pretty easy to track. There are more ideas in this post: Preventing over doses

We use our spreadsheets to track blood sugars, food, medications, weight. We even have a page for blood tests, which I find great for trend tracking for all the cats.
