Low BG

You could try the suggested snack, Maria, although I am thinking that would be around 3:30/4:30 a.m. in the morning when Corky tends to have blue AMPS (autofeeder time? Although would Coco eat the food, Maria? or get her own snack too?)

Also, @Sienne and Gabby (GA) usually we only suggest trying the +8/+9 snacks when a cat is on a very small dose of insulin, right? whereas Corky is on 1.5 units. No harm in trying it though.

@Suzanne & Darcy - not always when a cat's on a small dose. Sometimes, if the dose has been at the same range for a while and the only numbers that are a bit higher are the pre-shot numbers, a snack past nadir will get the pre-shot number to fall into line. It looks like the blue pre-shots may be responding both to the insulin and food stimulating Corky's pancreas to produce endogenous insulin.

I was attributing the fact that Corky’s AMPS are higher than his PMPS to dawn phenomenon. I see that pattern a lot.

Last time I suggested the +8/+9 snacks to someone in a similar situation someone pinned my ears back (I am exaggerating I am sure) and told me it wasn’t recommended unless they were on a very small dose/nearing remission! Thanks for clarifying!

Both of you are right I always question Corky’s high AMPS, his last meal is at +4. 4% tender beef, last night it was unusual, I have both Corky and Coco on the same schedule, and they both eat in don’t of me on the bed on a place mat, to make sure no one gets in either bowl, they are monitored in every meal. I tried a while ago to feed them a couple of teaspoons of food, but they always rejected it they are still full at that time thank you both for your concern :bighug: :cat::cat:

It still may be worth trying a snack given while you are asleep at about 3-4 hours before Corky’s shot. If his PMPS+4 snack is large (like half a can or even 1/4 can) it could be made smaller so he might eat a spoonful of food at that time and it would perhaps lower his AMPS. Keep it in mind.
