Hello, I've been taking Prozinc insulin for a month. I previously used Lantus, but my vet recommended that I switch to Prozinc. I don't know if that was correct because, looking at my spreadsheet, I had better numbers with Lantus than with Prozinc. What do you think about my spreadsheet?

I hope you will get some advice, Xelo!
Glad to see you posting for some help ❤️‍🩹

Hello Xelo. What was the reason that your vet recommended a switch to ProZinc?

Hello Xelo. What was the reason that your vet recommended a switch to ProZinc?
Why he never wanted me to give him lantus and upon seeing my spreadsheet and the cat getting sick he told me to change insulin that it was not good for my cat because in two years he had not been able to regulate it, he told me that maybe my cat has diabetic neuropathy, but my cat does not behave like cats that have it.

I see that he has been very challenging to regulate. If he had diabetic neuropathy then he would be walking down on his hocks/heels.
I don't think he has it, I don't see any signs of the disease, but the vet did three tests in a row, checked his kidneys, pancreas, liver, did an ultrasound, and everything is fine. The only significant thing in all the tests is potassium. What I want is for someone to tell me whether I should continue with Prozinc or continue with Lantus. What do you think? I think the vet gave me the excuse of changing insulin because he didn't know what was wrong with my cat.

I think it sounds like you are probably correct about the vet. I am glad to know that nothing else seems to be wrong with Sinver.

It is not unreasonable to try a different insulin, but if you think he was doing better before on the Lantus then you can always change back to it. A month is a reasonable trial period.

And you say his potassium is low? How low? Are you are giving him a supplement?

You can look at my spreadsheet; I have all the latest test results. I think a month will be too short because he was on antibiotics and corticosteroids for the first few weeks. You know what? I have no idea how to dose this insulin so I can increase the dose when? I had the other one under better control. Could you advise me on the dosage, how often to increase it? I looked at the files for this insulin, but to be honest, I didn't find them very clear. Thank you for your help.

I am giving him supplements, and the vet also put him on a drip with potassium and other minerals to stabilize him. I'm also giving him a vitamin complex called Kaminox, which is for cats with potassium problems. I wanted to wait to do the next blood test because he's a very fearful and stressed cat and he has a very hard time traveling to the vet, but I'd like to see how his body is functioning internally.

I am sorry that I did not reply to this message. One of my cats had something like a stroke yesterday and I had a very hard time finding a vet to take care of him (my regular vet said she was too busy!) It took the whole day to find another vet. Seems like there’s nothing to be done about it anyway and we just wait for improvement (since I have no money for an MRI — all the other sick cats have used up all the money.) Fortunately, it was not severe and he can walk with a bit of leaning to the right and tilting his head to the right. At least he is still happy! But that’s not your problem and I will try to help with the dosing of the ProZinc. Let me go back to your newest thread from today where I will mention a few things. See you over there.
