I’ve seen a few comments about automatic feeders and I’m considering purchasing one with WiFi so that when I’m at work and BG drops low (I use a freestyle libre CGM), I can manually activate a feeding.

I’m curious how you have found them and any reviews you can provide please!

My cat is a grazer and usually takes a few hours to get through his wet food. He is also fussy about it being room temperature or warm. He won’t eat it out of the fridge, so this does worry me with an automatic feeder. I’m also unsure if he will go to the feeder when it opens without a human there calling him. I usually have to call him to the food bowl to get him to eat (which he does vigorously once he smells it). However the alternative is that a couple times I’ve had to call someone to drop in to my house to check on him when his levels have hovered around 50 and I’m at work. I also do night shifts so this isn’t always practical. Is there an automatic feeder with a camera and speaker so I can call his name or something?

Has anyone had any similar problems?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Hello, I have the below feeder (it has ice packs beneath the food to keep it fresh). I can manually open it via the app on my phone if I want to dispense a snack if I’m out of the house.

I also have a Pet Cam which I use to watch if Ivy is eating a snack (it also has a feature that can either listen or speak to her via the camera).
It’s pretty inexpensive.

Cold canned food does eventually warm up closer to room temperature. It might take a few hours depending on how much food you put in and the type of feeder and ambient temperature etc. Many feeders have ice pack features to keep food cool.

Some feeders have a audible bell or other noise that signals that the food is available. Maybe you can try playing a bell on your phone every time you call your cat to eat so he learns to associate the bell with food.
